Hello to all hockey fans and Canuck fans out there, I have a question for you and I want your opinions. I am not a big hockey fan, and hockey knowledge is quite limited. Recently my hockey crazy friend has been complaining about Luongo and how bad he is compared to Schnider(sp?). My friend describes Luongo as a really "random" goalie who can save goals that usually don't get in but completely let the puck in when he could've saved it. He also said that when Canucks scores a goal Luongo slacks off and...sucks...

Haha, I have no idea if it's true or not or if it is accurate at all... I only knew this goalie through the Canadian Olympics and was vaguely impressed by his goaltending abilities during the Games.

So mainly my question is do you feel this description is true?

No way. Luongo is a great goaltender. Sure, he sometimes lets in soft goals, but ALL goalies do. It may also be true that he has a not so great playoff record, but keep in mind, the Canucks have in past years played the guy 60+ games in the regular season. Hopefully with the extra games off this year, he won't be as tired, and if he is, it's great to know Schneider is playing so well behind him.

Vancouverites are notoriously tough on our goaltenders, when they win, we want to build statues in their honour, but when they lose, we want to string them up on the Lions Gate as a warning to future goalies.

Bottom line is, EVERYONE has off days, makes bad plays, or lets in soft goals. Luongo is a fantastic goaltender, and I really have a good feeling for our chances at a cup this year....again...like I do every year.
