It's all good and not unexpected. I would have been surprised if Quinn wasn't gone before next season.

I'm curious to find out if a coach will be named before the draft or if the Leafs will wait until later in the summer.

Ferguson is the real problem but I guess they're giving him anohter chance. I hope Paul Maurice gets promoted to head coach, he was good with Carolina and has been good for the marlies.

I agree that Ferguson is mostly to blame, but, I think that when you have a coach and a GM who are not on the same page in terms of the direction the team is heading, it does not matter how good they are individually. Quinn is a good coach and ferguson is a good GM, they just do not work well together.

Quinn is a good speaker.. but x's and O's wise not a great coach.. decent motivator... he could sell fridges to eskimos and have them begging to have the additional icemaker installed for twice the price.... The man has the gift of gab.

That is exactly right. While there were never any "official" reports (are there ever any) of the animosity between the 2 of them there was more then enough smoke to prove there was fire. Just as a team can't function when there is infighting on the bench neither will a team do well when the head office can't come to grips. Case in point is the lockout that cancelled a season. The general consensus is that Bettman & Goodenow just simply hated each other too much to get the deal done even when both sides wanted it. I don't think Quinn was the major problem but just like Pat Burns before, someone high up has to take the blame and after so many years it is usually the coach.

Thanks for all the memories Pat.

I don't think that's the case. His signings, Allison, Lindros, O'Neill & Czerkawski weren't that bad compared to the utter disaster that Quinn was when he was a GM.

Allison had 60 points in 66 games....Lindros went down to a fluke injury to his wrist and O'Neill and Czerkawski were benched by Quinn in favour of slower and less talented players such as Antropov, Domi, etc.

Two talented and former 20 goal scorers sitting in the press box.

Good riddance Quinn!
