According to what I was told yesterday, Niedermayer is seeking $8.3 million dollars per season -- meaning that Edmonton and Calgary are one of the few teams that could afford to sign him at this rate of pay. Vancouver can't sign him at what he's asking (although we all know he'll never get that, so Vancouver IS a distinct possibility).
Regardless, even if Edmonton or Calgary did sign Niedermayer for that much, they wouldn't be able to sign anyone else, and Edmonton is hoping to land two top-line centermen.

And Calgary NEEDS to sign Iginla.. if they don't they are dead fish in the water....
