Naslund should definately stay, he's our biggest offensive player. I like Jovo, although he has screwed up.... and hopefully Bert will be back. I want Neidermeyer!!! Give up another defensman and a prospect or such and get him!!!

Oilers acquire Pronger from Blues

TSN.ca Staff

8/3/2005 1:12:28 AM

ST. LOUIS (CP) - Standout defenceman Chris Pronger has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers for defencemen Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka.

Pronger, 30, was named the NHL's most valuable player and top defenceman five years ago.

Blues GM Larry Pleau tendered contract qualifying offers to Pronger ($7.22 million US), Keith Tkachuk and Doug Weight last week, and many observers felt he couldn't keep all three high-priced players under the new collective bargaining agreement with its $39-million US cap.

The other shoe fell when the Blues issued a statement on the trade shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Pronger, the Blues' captain, has played in four NHL all-star games. The six-foot-six native of Dryden, Ont., has 400 points including 94 goals in 722 NHL games.
