$1: Do you think perhaps its the Leafnation that resides in Ottawa that it may be directed at, nothing spells ratings like controversy. 10% of all hockey fans in Ottawa are Leaf Fans. 5% of all hockey fans in Toronto are Sen Fans. Why aim to such a small market? Over 60% of Ottawa and Toronto each respectfully are fans of their home teams. Toronto radio is pretty good at aiming at supporting itself instead of bitching about the rival at any waking moment like Nottawa. $1: This is the last generation of brainwashed robots, unless the Leafs put a half decent team on the ice only the drones will remain. Leaf Nation is so mis-understood. Keep up the stereotype. If you think this is the last generation of a strong Leaf Fan base, stronger then ANY FAN BASE IN THE NHL, WITH ONLY MONTREAL COMING EVEN CLOSE, you have mental problems.
If you think that the Almost 4 Million Leaf Fans are going to see some "light" and stop supporting their team like a normal hockey fan would, you are wrong.
Leaf Nation isn't stupid. People don't support the Leafs blindy. Some do, of course, hell,t here are those kind of fans on any team, who know nothing about the team but still manage to get a ticket to the games. To bad for us in Leaf nation that the rejects in Ottawa and Calgary point out these select few and blame all of Leaf Nation for it.

Whos arse did they pull these stats out of, both the Leafs and Habs have the exact same amount of fans??
Torstar media, gee a Toronto news paper pulling out stats so they can look favorably good for the leafs.
What did they do use a contact group of patients in psych wards, this. is probably about as acurate as the polls they post during elections.
Unless you can personally name at least five people who have ever been involved in the poll, its pretty safe to assume its nothing but conjecture, made up from vague question asked by some guy hanging out at the urinals in the local strip club.
I personally know people who have Leaf stickers on their vehicle, wear Leaf jerseys and hats, etc but would be hard pressed to tell you the score in the Leafs game the night before or for that matter even know whos on the team.
So if a pollster happens to ask them which team do you cheer for they would say Leafs, hence the term "drones". I don't blame them its learned behaviour, its what they have been trained to do every saturday night before cable gave them an option, its all they've been exposed to in every media from radio, and TV to print.
Take for instance the game next tues in London Ontario between the Sens and Flyers, MLSE will not allow sportsnet to show the game, a pre-season game in their broadcast area. Why, is it because they fear that the so called Leaf Nation being exposed to another teams rookies would see just how futile the product they get shoved down their throats by biased media isn't as great as the afore mentined media makes it out to be.
Both the Habs and Sens allow each other to show games in each others area, MLSE refuses.......WHY?
If Leaf nation is so great and not simply a product of being shoved down their throats, for decades.

LoudLarry LoudLarry: thebuz thebuz: Here is my take on the Sens Army,
I live outside TO. I travel to Ottawa every three weeks for biz.
EVERYTIME I am there, I listen to sports radio. EVERYTIME I am there, they have something negative to say about Toronto - and it stems from the Leafs.
I remember they even had a countdown (# of games left) to when the Leafs would miss the play-offs.
That is how pathetic Ottawa is.
Rather than HOPE the Leafs make it in, and play them in the first round (with the intent of redemption from many years gone by where they have never won a playoff series vs Toronto). They start a countdown to when they WILL NOT make it in.
Spineless & a ScaryCats (yes, I said scarycats) team.
They only wish they had our history. Gee imagine that listening to a sports radio in a town that is home to only one pro sports franchise and they talk about it, and relate the talk to the teams biggest rival. Do you think perhaps its the Leafnation that resides in Ottawa that it may be directed at, nothing spells ratings like controversy. I live in Sittlers hometown St Jacobs and all I ever hear around here is Sens this and Sens that, the fear that Leaf fans around here have of the sens borders on psychotic and the fan base is shrinking, at my sons peewee practise the amount of kids wearing sens jerseys is growing every year. In town three vehicles sprot sens plates with the arrival of centerice more and more people are no longer captive of CBC and Leaf broadcast rights and just because your Father and Grand Father were brainwashed you don`t have to be. To be honest I would rather have a hockey disscusion with a 16 yr old who can think for his or herself and hasn`t been brainwashed for decades by CBC and the media and actually can see beyond the Leaf nation hype and BS that the Don Cherrys of the world sprout off about. Better marketing of stars like Crosby, and the Stalls will shrink Leaf nation. This is the last generation of brainwashed robots, unless the Leafs put a half decent team on the ice only the drones will remain.
I wasn't aware I was "brainwashed" but thanks for not getting it. Fan is derived from "fanatic" and nowhere in that concept does pragmatism ring loudly. Leafnation might be somewhat misguided in its optimism, but what fan isn't? I love the Leafs, but that doesn't mean i can't appreciate the skill of a Crosby, or a Stall or a Thornton or a Lecavalier and if you think Leaf fans are somewhat over the top, maybe visit Montreal or Calgary and tell me a little more about it. Besides, if you think that the ever growing fandom of the Sens army is due to "real" hockey fans gravitating towards a true team and not the superfans jumping on the bandwagon, than I wouldn't call too many people "brainwashed" if I were ya'.

Violence does not belong outside the rink between any fans. Maybe there's just not enough soccer matches around?
If there's any confusion: A rink is used for hockey. A stadium is used for soccer.
Not exclusively of coarse.

WDHIII WDHIII: Yeah sumpin aint right with this...... Calgary: Leaf Fans: 43,172.5 Canuck Fans: 43,172.5 Hab Fans: 43,172.5 Flame Fans: 766,310 Sen Fans: 0 Oiler Fans: 53,965.5 An anomily or Mr. Canada on one too many javas
You see that little box with a chart on it? It's an image about the stats I collected.
I used those percentages to cut up the actual population of each city so i can get a full amount of fans, obviously an incredibly rogue, vague number, yet still.
That's why the numbers look funny.

Well..it all starts tonight...well not exactly. Although toronto are putting their top lines on with raycroft in nets... I will be surprised if they come out as a winner in tonights game.
But its only pre-season...so a win on either team doesnt count...but damn im happy its starting

I think Toronto may win, since we're not using our top lines and are using our rookies from training camp...

Heatley, Spezza, Meszaros and Schubert are rookies are they????
Heatley: goal and 2 assists
Meszaros: 2 assists
Schubert: 2 goals
Spezza: 3 assists including an assist on the game winner in overtime scored by that rookie Eaves....
Anyways, it's nice to see that 3 of my fantasy hockey Leaf picks got points!!!

When you look at the majority of the players right now, they are rookies from the camp...

Toronto could`ve won last night. Sundin`s last goal should`ve counted. But its a pre-season, so who cares, it was fun to see them battle again

Over 80 years for the sens or is that the fault of the Leafs as well. When the sens have a bad season it's the Leafs fault when they have a good season then they think their sh*t don't stink.
