It's almost the opposite of the Bertuzzi incident, really.
Bertuzzi's punch appeared relatively harmless, but inflicted a ton of harm.
Simon's attack looks pretty vicious, but Hollweg is going to fine.
Interesting to see how this will affect the punishment.
The NHL never ever penalizes the act harshly but always over reacts on the extent of the injury.
Simon will get 10-15 games for the slash ..thats it but because Hollweg is walking and talking ...nothing more. I would say this is worse than the bertuzzi hit as the force from that slash could have done some serious injury to Hollweg. Very Similay to the Marty McSorley hit on Donald brashear. Different intent McSorley was trying to get Donald to fight him. Simon was pissed off the Holleweg hit him. And McSorley got him from behind.. that was a two handed chop (baseball bat style) to the throat from the front.
Personnaly I think he's should be done for the year ( No playoff either) and 15 games into next year. 30+ game suspension.. but the league will go softer than that because as I said they penailize the result of action and not the act itself.
Bertuzzi was penalized for the punch, the trip, the landing on the player , the 5 pile player dogpile and the 35 foot slide on Moores face.

Hollweg not dead or seriously injured Simon will get a lesser penalty.
