$1:
Earlier this year, the Coyotes un-retired Bobby Hull's number nine jersey so that Brett could wear his fathers number.

Now he decides it's time, after all that business with his and his Dad's number....

He should of retired with Detroit after the last season.

Brett Hull is a clown, couldn't make Team Canada years back so he plays for the USA. Got a penalty in Ottawa one night in the mid-nineties and gave the crowd the finger when the cameras had him on the scoreboard. Good riddance.

First classy thing Hull has done since he hit the league. He couldn't hack it anymore and instead of coasting and just collecting a pay check he hangs em up, good for him. Now maybe he won't ever have to hear him talk again.

First off the guy finished his carrer third in scoring in the National hockey league. Hmm show him some repect.
Brett played for the USA not becuase he failed to make canada's team (that was deadmarsh) Hull didn't want to play for Canada becuase his dad Bobby Hull was excluded from team Canada back in 1972. Dennis Hull went but Bobby didn't becuase that was the year he signed in the WHA. for $1 million dollars in winniprg. So the guy had some convictions in life..

Love Brett Hull or dispise him but show him the respect and the props he deserves.
He was always an outspoken person on all topics relating to hockey... Hull and roenick are the best at stirring controversy.
Played hockey against him before the man got accurate. Brett played in Penticton....... Good guy but like eddie the eagle.. if there was a gram anywhere in the room.. he could find it. I remember going out to a party in Nelson, Brett was there.. even in Nelson he could find a little business...

Why? Because he was good at hockey? It'll take more than that for me to have respect for someone. [hockey]

Thanks for the news AND the link!

Tis' True. But does anyone remember the playoffs about 7 years ago. It was the last game. Dallas Stars vs. Buffalo Sabres. And Brett Hull scored the winning goal. That was a good one.

I'm sorry to see him retire. He was one of the very few players who actually had anything interesting to say in an interview. He made some nice, ballsy remarks during the lockout at a time when all the other players were still being duped by Goodenow...

I'd like to see him get into broadcasting.

Like I said "Love Him Or Hate Him you have to respect what he did as a Hockey player... there you go more specific ... just for you.
If you choose not to then thats your quarter.. having play against him.. he was a competitor.. who crafted his game got better made the NHL and became a "judas" to some in this country but became a better hockey player than his dad.. Bobby Hull and his uncle Dennis Hull... He's never been better than Maxine.. (Bretts aunt) now that lady was one hell of a hockey player.......

Best story ever regarding Brett. In a game between Quebec Nords in 1992 and St Louis... Brett was frustrated by one of his own defencemen the entire night, he would hit open ice.. the puck was never moved up to him.. or it was 2-3 feet out of reach etc etc etc.. long story short.. less than a minute left in the game nords have thier goalie on the bench.. extra attacker on.. St louis blues get the puck in the corner.. (can't remember who the d for st louis was..) but he snaps the puck up takes two strides and headmans the puck up to Brett at the line Brett moves the puck around his check.. wide open ice hits the blue line winds up to blast the puck into the yawning cage.. but turns and chips the puck into the corner and skates off. Joe Sakic, Brett and a number of BC guys are sitting in the bar later 5 hours after the game rising a few pint.. Joe turns to brett and asks him why he didn't bury the puck into the empty net.. Brett looks at Joe and says.. "what and give an assist to that undeserving f**k, never" " Iwas open 10-12 times and the only time he head mans we the puck is when I'm wide open with an empty net.. F**k him.

He went to play for the US because he couldn't make the Canadian team or wasn't asked because of the depth of talent Canada had at the time. The US offered him a spot when Canada wouldn't and since that time he's felt an obligation to the US team. The only time he thought of switching back to team Canada was when The Great One nearly had him talked into it so they could play together. By him not switching teams he's actually showed loyalty and character.
Talented family none the less. Denis Hull spoke at a dinner I was at in the spring........he got all the Comedic skills in that family.
