Canada Vs Russia

Pretty much one of the best bench clearing brawls I have seen in awhile. Listen to the announcer as he gives the commentary. Is the whistling sound coming from him or the background?

I remember that like it was yesterday....they actually turned the lights off in the arena so the brawl could not be seen. I also remember Don Cherry giving the big thumbs up to the Canadians for partaking in the bench clearing brawl on CBC TV after the dust had settled.

No one over there had ever dealt with a bench clearing brawl.. The Refs, the off ice officials etc.... they shut the lights off thinking that if the players couldn't see one another.. the fighting would cease and the hostilities would end... point here for future reference... hmmm nope it didn't work...

I know the Junior player for Canada who was in the middle of it.
His name is Everett Sanipass, from the Big Cove Reserve in New Brunswick.

I knew his family very well. He was suckered into it by the racial slurs the russians were saying to him.

He got drafted by Chicago and played some gamesw, but was mostly in the minors. he was traded to the Quebec nordiques, but never played much, and got out of hockey due to back problems.

He ran some hockey camps in N.B. for a while.

Still lives in N.B.

Just shows how low Russian players will go to get at someone and make canada lose.
