Had a good visit with my Doc today (Yesterday). 1 week of this and then consult with Dr. Miles as my next operation is 'highly specialized'. Still trying to find others who have had the surgery so that I can get their opinions on success/failure. Posted on FB at my son's urging & still no leads. I can't be the first person to require this particular surgery. Can I??? 8O 8O He wants me to try Tramadol instead of Tylenol. I was eating t's like they were smarties!. tramadol is supposed to be between t3's & Oxycodone.
Taking 2 3x day-37.5 & 325mg. Don't know exactly what that means but they make me 'dizzy'.

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever.

Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain.

The extended-release form of tramadol is for around-the-clock treatment of pain. This form of tramadol is not for use on an as-needed basis for pain.

Tramadol may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Important information

You should not take tramadol if you have used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications within the past few hours.

Tramadol can slow or stop your breathing, especially when you start using this medicine or whenever your dose is changed. Never take tramadol in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed. Do not crush, break, or open an extended-release pill. Swallow it whole to avoid exposure to a potentially fatal dose.

Seizures (convulsions) have occurred in some people taking this medicine. Tramadol may be more likely to cause a seizure if you have a history of seizures or head injury, a metabolic disorder, or if you are taking certain medicines such as antidepressants, muscle relaxers, narcotic, or medicine for nausea and vomiting

Tramadol may be habit-forming, even at regular doses. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Never share the medicine with another person. MISUSE OF NARCOTIC PAIN MEDICATION CAN CAUSE ADDICTION, OVERDOSE, OR DEATH, especially in a child or other person using the medicine without a prescription.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Tramadol may cause life-threatening addiction and withdrawal symptoms in a newborn.

Do not drink alcohol. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with tramadol.

Do not crush the tramadol tablet. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death.

Hopped up??? More like having imbibed just the right amount of whiskey & then going for a ride on a merry-go-round. Doing my best not to have a Technicolor yawn!

In the last couple of months I have had my work schedule cut back & my meds increased. Yesterday I went up to Grande Prairie to see 'The Wizard'. Quite the consultation. He brought in another specialist as well. The outcome being that they both agree that "plastic in, plastic out" is how it must go. It is very risky but the conclusion that my health & related problems will continue to get worse if not dealt with sooner rather than later.
Dr. Miles will try lapriscopic on the left side (the more painful side) to try to see what exactly they are dealing with. If possible will try to remove the mesh at that time & if successful will also remove the mesh on the right side. Sounds easy eh? Then again, he may have to do an incision. Only do the left side for now to see how that goes then in a few months get the mesh out of the right side. He may be able to repair the hernias during that surgery, then again, maybe not. That would leave me with both hernias again while I heal up for a few months then he would go back in to do that repair with a different brand of mesh or just sutures. It all really depends on what he finds as to how it is repaired. Repaired it will be though.
When I reminded him about our conversation of August/14 where he warned me of the very real possibility of ending up a parapalegic he assured me that he would not go that far if it came down to it, but that something must be done very soon. I filled out all the preadmission forms and now just waiting to hear from the hospital in G.P. as to the date. Should be within the next couple months.
Afterwards I called up 'Q' & he took to a good little restaurant for lunch. We got to B.S.ing & I damn near missed my plane again!
Little bit of a 'bull story & butting into line' at the security & I made it running across the tarmac carrying my boots & coat & belt in one hand/arm , & holding up my britches with the other hand! That cute little lady I got to sit beside for the flight home wouldn't converse with me even a little bit!
