If you are using a scientific method, why does one study say the opposite of another? Should there not always be a relative correlation?

Weird study. Eating veggies beats eating red meat. No doubt.

All these studies were done using vitamin supplements, not on people eating actual food.

What I've always thought, throw away those pill bottles and just eat right. :D

...and I agree with Brenda, who in their right mind would want to eat Brussels Sprouts. 8O

I may have found the key to long life, but the damn government won't give me the money to carry out the research.

My theory is actually quite simple. Given the facts that animals and vegtables are inundated with chemicals, hormones and god knows what else to increase their shelf life, there is a direct correlation between longevity and how long your cheese will last unwrapped in the fridge before going mouldy.

The theory being the more crap you ingest the longer you should live.

As it stands now I can't submit my finding to the Canadian Medical Journal, yet, but I'll be sure to get back to you folks, after I've recieved my huge government grant and conducted the necessary research to validate my completely plausible theory.

A few links here as to why you don't need supplements.
http://www.beyondprenatals.com/2009/03/ ... ce-vs.html

Of course, you can probably find as many links as to why you need them.

* A research study showing that kids who don't need vitamins are usually the one who take them anyway. The article states that the AAP does not recommend supplements for most kids over the age of 1.

* Dr. Sanjay Gupta's view on vitamins supplements emphasizing that there is no research proving supplements help make you healthier.

* Postmenopausal women saw no health effect from multivitamin in a recent study.

* This article questions the safety of nanoparticles in vitamins and the lack of oversight by the FDA.

* Multivitamins don't help prevent cancer or heart disease in this study.

* Prenatal vitamins don't contain the amount of iodine they claim to contain according to this report .

* Too much supplemental vitamin E might cause heart defects according to a recent study .

* A good review explaining how some anti-oxidants can act as pro-oxidants if taken in supplemental form.

Brussel sprouts are a necessity.
You must eat one nasty thing to make the rest good by comparison.

Especially when you know Mom left the turkey out when she bought it, it thawed and the dog chewed it, and then she sliced off the chewed parts, refroze it, thawed it for Christmas dinner, fucking microwaved it and Dad would knock your block off if you opened your mouth or gagged eating it.

Then a few really nasty Brussel sprouts makes it taste like fucking ambrosia....

This is really something to change the tides of health issues again. Once to be believed that it could help increase the health and lifespan of mankind but now proved that they are nothing and they might cause harm as well. In fact, we should have stick back to a more traditional way, it is not risky at all and it is a life that our ancestors have been living. We should stick back to the basics of eating right, having a healthy lifestyle and exercise more often.
