I went with the Voyageurs.

When I first saw the topic I thought for sure that "The Capitals" would amongst the top 5 as well as going back to the Roughriders.

The Capitals would have been a great name......wonder why it didn't make the short list? You mean the Rough Riders......not going to happen. The team gave that name up once it folded and my Roughriders have first and only dibs on it.

Voyageurs, maybe, if they moved to Hull,
RedBlacks, why not RedGreens same uninspired difference,
Nationals, sounds like an amateur 1920's hockey team and not the good one,
Raftsmen, WTF, sounds like an all male dance troop in a drag review,
Rush, sorry there is only one RUSH and they aren't in Ottawa.

I may be a traditionalist and a rabid CFL fan but these names are straight out bad and if they go with anyone of them it's gonna embarass the league even more than having two RoughRider/Rough Rider teams did for nearly a century.

Maybe it's what they should be smoking to come up with more imaginative names? I do agree with your assessment of the choices though........lame really lame.

BTW, Sask acquired Geroy Simon last week. I think he will be a great addition to our team and as a friend mentioned, maybe he can teach Getz how to catch the ball and hold onto it once in awhile.

Exactly. This is so great for our league. We really need the new Ottawa team - no matter what it is called though I go like the 'Nationals'. Will be really glad when the Maritimes get a team too - more competition is better for all in our league.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see them pull this off but we've seen this before and I fear it will be another repeat of their last attempt. A better choice for a new team might have been Halifax.

It will most likely be the RedBlacks. The media in Ottawa is selling it hard saying that we should all give it a chance, that the name is unique, that in the end we will all end up loving it.
