*disclamer* - The last post and this post are just my opinions. They are not in any way, backed up with any stats or science whatsoever.

It doesn't seem to me like we've had the same publicity up here re concussions in football. Not saying we don't have them, we certainly do. But I haven't noticed the same media attention north of the 49th.

And I've watched a fair bit of both, lived in KY for four+ years and I couldn't get CFL games down there. Just my opinion again, but there sure seems to be more violent collisions in the NFL. Maybe because of what I said before, bigger pay etc. Maybe because the field is more cramped.

Or maybe I'm just seeing things.

WOW.....what a half.....31-25 Hamilton going into the half, both teams are in good position to set a new most points scored in a game, current top score is 111 - Toronto (68) vs. B.C. (43) (Sept. 1, 1990)

A great game by both teams this afternoon, it was really well played, with the stats being nearly equal in all categories. The game was just not long enough for the TiCats when it came to the end seeing Toronto take the game 39-34.

After watching the first game all I have to say about the 2nd is.....

What the Hell happened to the BC Lions and just WHO the Hell are those guys wearing their uniforms...... :?: :?: :?:

The Calgary Stampeders gave their fans all they could ask for last night. Jon Cornish was a Monster in the game accounting for over half of the earned yardage - way to go, Jon. Maybe it was the much needed hair-cut that gave Drew Tate the extra oomph - whatever it was, he was on last night. The entire team really stepped up and made the Lions look inferior. Charleston Hughes - 3 sacks on Lulay - rock on Charles.

After the aerial displays in the prior two CFL games, it was nice to see some really great groundwork by the Stamps.

Besides all the trouble with their centers, the Lions lack discipline which also contributed to their downfall - you don't win a game by giving yards to the opposing team - duh.

Great win by the Stamps.

The Eastern games were a lot closer and more exciting to watch than what the West teams gave us... unless you're a die-hard Calgary Stampeders or Saskatchewan Roughriders fan.

I guess you call call it a 'trouncing' - for sure the Rider's D had Reilly's number most of the night - the poor chap, by the time the Esks put Crompton in, I was actually feeling sorry for him. Had to agree with Glen Suitor - he never really recovered from the last play of the opening half which saw him throwing an interception to Sask's Renauld Williams which ended in a TD and a 22 to 1 Sask lead.

Edmonton were their own worst enemies in the opening half too, taking far too many stupid penalties - they were supposed to work that stuff out in the pre-season.

Talking of stupid penalties - Sask's Dwight Anderson should have been sent to the locker room after his 2 - TWO - objectionable conduct penalties for apparently trash talking an Edmonton coach. Man I would have cold-cocked the SOB.

Along with a pretty good offence, Sask's D did just about everything they could to shut down Mike Reilly all night long.

All in all, not a bad win for my Riders and a great way to start the season considering they won in Edmonton where they have had troubles in previous years.

I gotta agree Raydan - the Eastern games were more exciting but a win for my Riders is something I will always cheer about. :D

The Bombers downed the Als 19-11....a game won by the least incompetent team, Calvillo was definitely not a happy camper after being sacked 7 times.....and told the world about it! The Bombers actually outdid themselves, turning over the ball 5 times on fumbles, one more than last week. Definitely a game nobody wanted to win...

ON ROUGHRIDERS.......ON ROUGHRIDERS! All the way to victory over the much vaunted Stamps! What a game. What a win. What a team. Best game I have seen my Riders play in a long long time. Great O - Fab D. Move over Jon Cornish, there's another pass rusher in town and his name is Kory Sheets. WOO HOO Riders!

It was a pretty solid game by the Riders, more so in ther seocnd half mind you. I thought both teams were playing excellent on both sides of the ball in the first half, but the Riders made a few better adjustments than the Stamps and owned the second.

I just like it when anyone beats a team from Calgary....

It was a great game by the Lions over the Argo's. They had a bit of a tough fourth, but over all looked like a completely different team than last week. Nice to see such a balanced offence from BC

Eskimos extend head coach Kavis Reed

Kavis Reed has some security.

The Edmonton Eskimos announced on Saturday that they’ve extended Reed, their head coach, who was entering into the final year of his contract with the Canadian Football League club. The team did not disclose the terms of Reed’s extension.

“This extension gives us stability going forward,” Eskimos general manager Ed Hervey said in the team’s press release. “Leadership is critical to a young football team for success and I know our players work extremely hard for and are committed to Coach Reed.”

Going into his second week of his third season as the team’s head coach, Reed’s overall record is 18-19. He was a CFL coach of the year finalist in 2011 and has taken the Eskimos into the playoffs the last two years. He was a 10-year coach in the CFL before landing the Eskimos job in December, 2010. As a player, Reed wore the Eskimos colours from 1995 to 1999 as a defensive back.

Reed and the Eskimos are in Guelph this weekend, where they’ll play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m. MT.

Must have been for the way he had the Esks prepared to play the Riders last week. 8O

There is much chat this week about the lack of offense by the Montreal Alouettes in their last outing. Uncharacteristically, Anthony Calvillo has been seen to lose his cool more than once after being shut down by the opponents' D, or sacked, or having all his receivers efficiently covered. I watched both Montreal games and what I saw was the inability of the coaching staff to design their O around the premier QB in the league - opting for designing plays that left him w/o protection and unable to deliver the ball quickly.

When Mark Trestman came to the CFL he had a staff that was all ready experienced in our game. The new coaching staff for Montreal lack that and it shows. If they don't figure out soon that what they are trying to make Anthony do is not what he does best, it will be a long unrewarding season for the team.

Another decent win for the Riders over the Argos tonight. Still a few fixes needed here and there but George Cortez seems have the O-line on side and liking his play calling as they keep putting points on the board. The Sask D is still proving they can shut down the best when needed as they did tonight on Rickie Ray. Nice win by my team.

Undefeated and they haven't even turned Superman loose yet!

I'm liking our chances this year. 8)

As long as Durant stays healthy.
