Atlantic results are blacked out until polls close at 9:30 in BC. I'm going to sleep through it.

Reverend Blair Reverend Blair:
Have a look at the badgering from Eyebrock on Harper being found to be breaking the Wheat Board Act and the Charter. It's pointless to put up the links.

That's because you incorrectly called Harper a 'criminal' which he patently isn't and your sources were newspaper columns, not Federal Court decisions.

I'll challenge you when you lie rev.

Canadaka Canadaka:
Why, because the majority of Canadians don't support what the Conservative party or Stephan Harper stands for. There is a far greater number of voters on the progressive side than the conservative side.

Even with a Liberal party that over the last 3 years has been without a leader, divided then having kind of a weak leader, Harper still can't improve his numbers. 30% popular vote is pretty much the ceiling of conservative support in Canada, even with most the chips in there favour.

And to say there havn't been major flaws isn't correct. Sure depending on your political believes or support for Harper, some might not be flaws, but there have been numerous broken promises. Take the income trusts for example.
More: http://www.scandalpedia.ca/Scandals.html

And he's made several flaws in his campaign that lost him support, his crime package didnt sell well in quebec and the arts funding comments really hurt him there. The conservatives have also been slow to combat things the Bloc have been saying about them in Quebec, often taking days to respond.
His comments about the economic problems have not helped either, until he finaly has changed is tone the last few days.

I doubt a very large % of voters are seriously swayed now by the harper hidden agenda and bush linking stuff, they have plently of other real reasons to not like him.

Im rather thinking that people are getting more comofortable with the conservatives. In every respect their numbers have gone up,in every election since 2004 not down as the liberals have. And frankly sonce the Adscam scandals which the liberals have never really owned up to thier responsibility as a whole, thier support in canada in real terms has been on a downward spiral.

And while you say the crime issue didnt sit well with the Quebecers, and the so-called 'arts' issue is the that most people care about thier wallets and thier safety. And canadians voted in more CPC members than ever before. Your doubts are certainly our own to have but Canadians put mire trust, not less in the CPC and less in the Liberals and the left in general

And please spare me the broken promises line - let drag up a few of the liberals Great Moments. GST ring a bell, and actual tax that the CPC lowered and will lower again

Ummm--I'm sure there'll be a line up of pelple waiting to point this out, but the GST was actually a Conservative initiative under Brian Mulroney. I find this weakens your argument somewhat.

Again, I can't stress enough that you should really have at least some clue as to what you're talking about prior to posting, lest you make yourself look like an utter buffoon, as you have just demonstrated.

your welcome.

So it was, but it was also neecesary. and has actually made the country finically sound. Sound enough that the CPC reduced it. and i dont see how it weaens it. Mulrony never promised not to bring ina GST. It was hugely unpopular at the time, but in no way was it a broken promise.

On the other hand the verbal and poilitcal gymnastics that the Liberals went through when they realized that the country in fact DID need it when they had said in thier election they would get rid of it, Then the so-called resignation (and immediate by-election) of Shiela Copps?

Please spare me your wit ( or excuse of one)

When your ready to talk about reality - not the fog induced Liberal haze, feel free to come back son

No thanks, May if possible is even more out of touch with Canadians than Dion and Liberals in general. After next election and she loses a gain she'll get kicked to the Curb

Harper is finished!

If he couldn't get a majority with 3 tv networks promoting him, defending him, making excuses for him and apologizing for him...when his main opponent was turned into a "I will increase the tax" buffon that was made fun off nationally. Not to mention the carbon tax issue .He couldn't get a majority under these conditions! ..he is history. The great economist was even given an economic crisis surprise..and the great tactition all but destroyed any chance of a Quebec vote. The liberals pulled off one of there worst elections ever and he still couldn't get a majority...what does that say?

It was handed to him on a silver platter and he all but dropped the platter and all the tory fish got stepped on...now there is a buffoon.

Bye bye conservatives. This is good news. [B-o]

There is a lot to think about in that post. I don't know about 'finished' because I can't see into the future but it looks like you make many solid points. Dion being portrayed as so weak (and thought to be so by the Conservatives) and only losing a hand full of seats.

It says more about the shaky Conservative hold than most would like to admit I think. If the Liberals come up with a strong candidate they may be able to take a chunk out of the next vote.
