Drop to your knees and pray Andy... cause if Harper gets his majority, he is coming for YOU first.

I've got my place in the mountains all ready to go. Let the deluge begin, I'll be high and dry.

It is logical that Harper and the Conservatives lose some ground...that doesn't always make it a certainty that it will happen but it is very logical.
...and yes, PLEASE let it be true!

OnTheIce OnTheIce: andyt andyt: Who you going to vote for Andy? Whatever candidate has the best chance of defeating the CPC. I won't be voting for anybody, but against Harper.

I just can't wrap my head around voting agaist someone just for the sake of it without regard for who you'd be voting for. We take for granted this whole democracy thing.

I wouldn't read too much into this. This drop is well within the margin of error (+ or - 3.1%). If you if you look at the long term trends (pdf) there has been almost no movement of the conservative's numbers. In fact the only interesting result of the polls seems to be the battle for the left between the Liberals and NDP and even that hasn't changed too much. If the past couple of weeks are any indication the House of Commons is going to look the same after May 3rd as it does now.

Since it will be either Liberal or NDPr, both democratic parties, democracy will not be endangered by me doing strategic voting. Either candidate will be as qualified as the CPC rep. Actually I'll be voting for the incumbent.
If I wasn't worried about a Harper majority, I might give the Work Less Party or the Marxist-Leninists a whirl, just for shits an giggles. I've often voted for fringe parties because none of the major parties impressed me much.

Any other likely result I can live with.

OnTheIce OnTheIce: We take for granted this whole democracy thing. This isn't a democracy. We have choice between two things that are exactly the same thing. I can't understand why Liberals and Conservatives are constantly bickering at one another. It's ridiculous that voters are so blindly and aggresively partisan. It makes NO sense. It's illogical because the parties are identical. It's Coke versus Pepsi. It's the same goddamn thing.

And since they represent mainstream Canada, we're not likely to have any other choice in the foreseeable future. The Fiberals are less likely to fuck with Medicare and CPC and less likely to come out with social restrictions. The Reformacons are at least a little more willing to change immigration and take a firmer stand on natives.

Each party has a completely seperate philosophy on how to run government and collect tax dollars. There are plenty of differences and many similiarities as well.
