It was a good debate. Dion proved his worth in his mother tongue. He is brilliant.
I give Elizabeth May cudos for her performance as well. Her french is fair but she held her own and she made many points that impacted Harper, who seemed a little off side. perhaps he couldnt find someone elses speech to copy..lol.. Bravo! M.Dion.

I watched some of the French media commentaries this noon. The SRC (Radio Canada) political analysis seemed to be fairly accurate. They presented some facts along with some of the political comments from the debate. Although, not the same could be said about TVA. 1st they started their broadcast with that Julie Couillard book, which is in itself another attempt to criticize a certain political party in particular. Also, Paul Laroque's usual blasting and critique of any Federalists, this time it happens to be Harper. He should simply endorse the Bloc and get over it already. It simply shows his immaturity in any of his ''biased'' political commentaries.

At the same time, I would like to apologize to McRobert last night. Eventhough in disagreement, it should have never been personal. Usually, that is not my style at all to criticize anyone in particular (whether it be Liberal or Conservative). Except for those separatists.

The concensus in the local media here seems to be that Dion won the debate.

I hardly noticed Dion at all. Oh, wait, he's going to fix the world in 30 days. I remember now.

That's what I thought - several times, I was thinking, "why the hell isn't Dion saying anything?"

He seemed to get more involved near the end, though.

I think a lot of Dion's high scores come from his overall demeanor. He managed to do what Harper was trying to do...stay above the fray. When he did speak he seemed pretty articulate (I have to go by the translation) and he tended to address the moderator instead of getting dragged into the bickering around the table.

I didn't think he'd done that well either, but it seems that most of the media and most of the people polled saw something different.

As basic (stupid) as it may sound , scores on the debate reported today in Quebec place the candidates by order of French fluency. Dion/Duceppe - Duceppe/Dion then Layton followed by Harper and May . Nothing to do with the content, the issues the discussions or anything that was debated. That was secondary !

It's Quebec remember !

Ce que tu dis est exact. Un vrai sondage, mené auprès de Québécois, qui nous vient de l'empire fédéraliste de Gesca (journal la Presse) indique la même chose. Dion et Duceppe sont les grands gagnants.
