Ok, now without referencing Harper or the CPC, give me one GOOD reason I should vote for any of the others.
I might as well vote for a friggin indy if there is one in my riding since "party members" can get booted from the party for deciding their constituents come before a whipped vote.

Well alrighty then. We'll just say building infrastructure is solely the reponsibility of private enterprise and the province and build prisons then.
Not.
I don't toe that Party line, because I'm a socialist. The gov't can and should say 'we want 4 lanes and more fibre, here's $1 billion to start'. And I'll be assisting to send an NDP to Ottawa again.

I'm might be a little off here because once I'm still not 100% sure what your saying (mind you I've had a few drinks so that's not helping  ), but if private enterprise needs the roads and the power to their sites then why shouldn't they pay for some if not all of it? The money saved can go towards all those socailist thingy's you claim to like.

FieryVulpine FieryVulpine:
The Liberal Party is not fit to run an ant farm, much less the country. As for this whole "Contempt of Parliament" issue, it is really a sham because it is partisan posturing that shows that the Liberals, NDP, and the Bloc have just as much contempt for Parliament as the Conservatives, if not more.

Actually, the contempt of Parliament issue isn't a sham. Harper and his government simply declaring cabinet confidence to with-hold details from the opposition parties means he was expanding his base of power at the expense of those most suited to watch what he was doing. He tried it with Afghanistan detainees and he tried it again over the F-35s.

Bev Oda lied twice to Parliament about axing funding for a human-rights group. She directly ordered the funding cut and then blamed it twice on others.

If you believe that the Sponsorship Scandal was bad, remember this, the Liberals got caught because they foolishly honoured transparency.

Harper will give you no such quarter. Feel free to enjoy being viewed as a gnat by him as he blithely does what he wants. I'm surprised he didn't prorogue Parliament again prior to his Contempt of Parliament no-confidence vote.

The first ever in the history of the Commonwealth where a government fell I might add.

IamLib IamLib:
The Liberals I've spoken with in the last few days -- many of whom were already upset that Ignatieff's performance over the past few years, -- are rolling their eyeballs at the way Ignatief slipped up and spoke about rejecting the budget before he even read it. Why should I give him any slack on this? Were we supposed to cut Ignatieff "slack" when he declared Quebec a "nation"? When he accused Israel of "war crimes" in its fight against Hezbollah? How is it "lunatic literalism" to take these words at their plain meaning? Ignatieff lost his first round at the Liberal leadership because he made deliberate verbal gambits that backfired - not because anyone distorted what he had to say. Now I say its time for Mr. Ignatieff to lose his first election.

I liked Ignatieff as a commentator and author, but frankly, its a stunning admission of how far the Liberals have fallen that one of the most successful political parties in the western world picked as their leader a guy with no political experience who spent nearly 30 years outside the country.

Red door or blue door? Its not the doors I dislike it's the knobs out front.

I'd rather have the Canadian who was good enough to teach in the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard than the guy who dropped out of U of T, and never had a full time job in his life. Harper is selling snake oil, and being good at that doesn't make a good leader just a successful politician.

And the fact that they thought they could get get away with it in broad daylight shows how much contempt they have for Parliament. As for the Bev Oda affair and the F-35's, let me tell you a little secret: politicians LIE, everybody LIES. While I don't condone what Harper has done by any means, I'm just a cynical bastard who knows that lying to the public and then covering your tracks is the only way to get ahead on the hill. In the end, the only reason why the Liberals even brought up the Contempt of Parliament motion is because they believe they are entitled to run the country, any other reason is a damn lie.

Oh, I have no doubt that more skeletons will be come dancing out of Harper's closet in the coming weeks. Maybe it will dog the Conservatives for the campaign, but maybe Canadians will be too jaded to give a damn by this point because all of the parties are corrupt.

With that, I leave you to stroke your ego.

Because politicians are like diapers: they need to be changed frequently and for the same reason.

5 reasons to oppose the Liberal candidate in your riding:

5. He/she's a Liberal candidate.
4. He's Bob Rae.
3. He/she was seen having coffee with the Bloc candidate.
2. He's Michael Ignatieff.
1. He/she's still a Liberal candidate.

5 reasons to oppose the NDP candidate in your riding:

5. He/she is Jack Layton.
4. He/she wears an orange-coloured tie with sequins while on campaign.
3. He/she gets his orders from the actual NDP leader: Olivia Chow.
2. He/she kinda resembles Howard Hampton.....
1. He/she actually thinks they will form a government.

Jack Layton met with the Queen of England.

He asked her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me in case I form the next government

"Well," said the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people."

Layton frowned, and then asked, "But how do I know if the people around me are really intelligent? "
The Queen took a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy, you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle".
"The Queen pushed a button on her intercom. "Please send Tony Blair in here, would you?"

Tony Blair walked into the room and said, "Yes, my Queen?"

The Queen smiled and said, "Answer me this please,
Tony, your mother and father have a child. It is not
your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"

Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answered,
"That would be me."

"Yes! Very good," said the Queen.

Layton went back home to ask Mike Ignatief.
"Answer this for me Iggy; Your mother and your father have a child.
It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"

"I'm not sure," said Iggy. "Let me get back to you on that one.."
He went to his advisors and asked every one, but none could give him an answer. Finally, he ended up in the men's room and recognized Steven Harpers shoes in the next stall.

Iggy asked Harper, "Steve, can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Harper answered back, "That's easy you dummy, it's me!"

Iggy smiled, and said, "Thanks!" Then, he went back to speak with Layton . "Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It is Steven Harper.

Layton got mad and yelled "No you idiot it is not! It's Tony Blair"!

AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT.

That's because conservatives really love Tony Blair. The UK's Labour is left of the NDP.

5 Reasons why I won't vote for Cons:

1- Crime bill - obviously the US system isn't working why import it?
2- Internet restriction bill similar to the terrible US DMCA, no thank you
3 - Long census form fiasco, IMO keeping statitics of the population is important and it helps us create more sound policies for the future, and to tackle problem areas
4 - Protectionism - mining deal blocked, UAE fiasco, etc
5- Contempt of parliament, pro-rogued twice to suit his own means and avoid his government falling, uses Canadians own ignorance of the Westminster system against the other parties (should be 3 separate points but whatever)

Just over points 1 and 2 are enough for me to vote for pretty much vote any party, even BQ so the cons don't get their majorities and pass those two monstrous bills. Liberals need to keep hammering at the two pieces of legislation as they are abominations.

Old joke lol. Unfortunately, the analogy doesn't work anymore. When one changes a diaper, it gets exchanged for a clean one. In politics, even the "clean" diaper is still full of shit.

the old diaper is still dirty and smelly, I wish Iggy would wash it before the new diaper gets too dirty and smelly.
