lily lily: Good point though. As a Canadian civilian I'm not sure I'm comfortable that so many CF members here have stated their dislike for their Prime Minister and their government.
What does the Code of Service Discipline have to say about that?
So, because a serving member of the military has a political opinion that differs from your's, that's a problem?
I think those who are affected by decisions of the government have every right to an opinion.
And it's not called the "Code of Service Discipline" smart ass, it's called the Queen's Regulations and Orders.

It is the NDA, CFADs and QR&Os not the code of service discipline in Canada for a start and it is not covered. It is covered in the Charter, it is called Freedom of Expression.

I guess you missed the memo saying the conservatives hate the charter and the activist judges who uphold it

Trying to recollect, but our oath was to defend the nation, not the current government. That's why the Governor general is the Comander in Chief and not the PM, as they are only political figures. This helps prevent one party from controlling the military. As a member you can't be a member of a political party, or you couldn't when I served.

What does the Code of Service Discipline have to say about that? wait wait wiat. Your not comfortable with soldiers not liking th pm....but your not laying blame on the pm? huh?
All members of the CF follow orders, and do you know where those orders come from?
To speak out against the PM, your federal government, is insubordination/treasonous. It is prohibited in the Code of Sevice Discipline and is a chargeable offence.
Listen to lily: How would you feel if you knew that a large number of military members did not like their government?
DAOD, 2008-2:
"CF members and DND employees shall discuss only their own job within their personal areas of experience or expertise."
"In addition, CF members and DND employees speaking in their official capacity, including designated subject matters experts and PAOs, shall not:
speculate about events, incidents, issues or future policy decisions;
offer personal opinion on government, DND or CF policy."
Keep it out of any public forums. This is not even the proper forum for what I'm saying now.

You forget that you're talking about canada, not some Third World Government of the month dictatorship. This almost sounds like the fear mongering that the Liberals tried with their stupid ad. Members of our military are not to be feared by the citizenry

Motorcycleboy Motorcycleboy: Ruserious Ruserious: [Do the world a favour, please crash your vehicle head on into a moving semi at a high rate of speed.
It'll raise the IQ level of Burlington considerably.
If I read about you, I'll remember you fondly while I laugh. Yeah, well, that'll cost us Conservatives two votes. You'll still have to overcome the other 3 or 4 thousand that we're going to win by in this riding though! I doubt if you can find that many tractor trailers to "crash" into us though. Face it. You're toast.
For someone who falsely believes they hold an intelligent opinion you have an understandable definition of "Toast". Will the Libs fall like your sycophant party, the old PC's? Not by a long shot. All the inflated support the CPC (the latest bigoted conservative inception) and the NDP currently enjoy are made up of mostly angry Liberals who will return in a few months when the Libs retool in order to displace the (always) incompetent conservative agenda when Canada's debts begin to mount.
My party won't be destroyed like your because Liberals aren't rats who flee the sinking ship that you and your con ilk have already proved yourselves to be.
Unlucky.

The military doesn't like the current government (who can blame them) and there fore thats a bad thing. Yeah, it is, but it is not the blame of the soldiers, but our shitty government, and that fucking ad. (military arguements get me riled up )

it was hester pointing this out, which is even more incredible. A member of the Canadian forces, insinuating that the members of the military would/could be viewed as a threat to our government

This is exactly why the CF should not be offended by those ads. We are the CF, we all follow orders, we do what we're told by those above us.
Do you know what the CDS had to say about those ads?
Anyone?
Exactly.
If you're in the CF, have a soldier medal, signature, avatar, whatever, you should be keeping your mouth shut.
