Keep those Ralph-bucks rollin!

Here's the skinny on what's typed on the back of the cheque.

Dear Albertan:enclosed is your Alberta 2005 resource rebate.
This $400.00/ person rebate by the government of Alberta as a non taxable, one time bonus to all Albertans in recognition of their role in building this province.Funds for this rebate are from part of this years provincial surplus, the rest of which will be saved or invested to build Alberta's future.

Congratulations and thank you for helping build this province.

From,

Premier Ralph Klein.

I tell ya,there's a tear in my eye right now. :o The "non taxable" part has piqued my interest.

The banks in Calgary ran out of 20's yesterday. Too funny!

But the best part is there's a Calgarian running the country now. 8O

I really dont know what to say except how does RU like his crow?

Actually he was born and grew up in T.O just as you are from Ontario and aren't truly an Albertan.

I think when the reality of harpers minority gov't and what he must do in order to enact any policies it may be you who is distressed.

Nah,he's in the hub of the energy sector(Calgary) Alberta pulls the strings now. We's a rockin buddy!

Since I know you aren't stupid or uninformed about CDN politics, I will assume you are simply bragging for the sake of bragging.

Harper has less seats then martin in the last election and no friends in parliment. He won't pass anything unless he gets support and that will mean giving concessions to someone and there goes his plans.

You didn't win, you only think you have.

We shall see,Wonder what kind of deal Laytons going to make for "Consecions"

Given that harper must grant concessions (good catch) to someone and the NDP know it they will demand the same things from them as they did the Libs and withdraw support when its convienent.

Harper will need more than just Layton to make any deals.

Surely not the washed up lib government or what's left of it.

Washed up?

Define washed up? They lost by only 22 seats. The cons have only a fragile minority and need support. Hardly being destroyed like the PC gov't was.

I can't wait for him to try to settle the "fiscal imbalance", what was he thinking?:
Mr. Duceppe said the Bloc will be on guard against any attempt by the Conservatives to make Quebec pay to resolve the fiscal imbalance, to make it pay to clean up environmental damage done by Alberta oil companies or to endanger its day-care system.

Either that or the Bloc.

I think I can hold off on getting cable for a while yet. The next few months should be entertaining. :D

Try 2 years, the libs are broke and going through a leadership race, sure nice to get good government and maybe no corruption though. Damn! those Lib's had it down to an art.

Maybe we can save Canada now.

Like I said. It'll be entertaining.

Harper can't rely on any one party to help prop up his government.

Your making this political.

How about that?

Everythings political and you accused me of being political. 8O
That's what happens when you have an opinion. Free speech.

Free speech lets you and Derby and RU say what you say.
Me too.

Remember that k?

Alberta, the home of cutting edge technology when it come's to energy, but if all you want to do is slam the province then fuck you. The big energy projects starting up all around the world will be useing Alberta technology because of our vast experience in the field, and the roads arent paved with chocolate......but every single SECONDARY road is paved,if you knew what range roads and township roads were about you would freak at the miles of paved roads we have.

They actually did that here a couple years ago in NS. We could not afford it but hey an election was coming up and well you know...... I never cashed mine, framed it with a tally plate saying "My vote cannot be bought"

Oh. The result of the election? Majority to Minority

Different situation in Alberta of course. Ralph does not need to buy votes there the way John Hamm does here. BZ Ralph for putting the surplus tax dollars where they really belong.

How quick folks forget about Don Getty and his election promise to pave every secondary road. 8O

But what do I know? I only live here.

It was insane promises like this that created a massive provincial debt. Remember when the moved the WCLC HQ from Edmonton to Stettler (Getty's riding)? Sometimes it's hard to wonder how a 'Conservative' could outspend a Liberal...

I didn't realize we were in that much of a pickle. Surplus for 8 straight years, paid down 60 Billion of our debt, led the G-8 in growth the past couple of years...sounds to me like things are going just fine.

Even more so here in Alberta where you can earn unheard of money in the oilpatch and especially in Fort Mac. Hell, the Edmonton-Calgary corridor is sitting at almost $40,000 per capita GDP. That't a hell of a lot of plasma TVs or pick-up trucks...
