Skinheads tried to disrupt Liberal-NDP rally in Moncton: RCMP

Several skinheads tried to disrupt a rally organized by supporters of the federal Liberal-NDP coalition last Thursday night in Moncton, Codiac RCMP have confirmed.

Three men with shaved heads heckled the crowd of 200 people in Moncton who gathered to support the coalition formed between the two opposition parties to replace the Conservative government.

Police quickly cornered the men and kept them away from the rally.

Deedee Daigle, one of the rally's organizers, said she's seen the ringleader at other public rallies.

"I personally ran into him about three years ago when we did a rally in Saint John against the proposed Atlantic gateway," she said.

"As far as I can tell ... he takes an opposing view from what's there. But what he's just trying to do is to rile up the crowd and see if he can get them to start behaving in a mob-like way."

Daigle said that at a rally in Saint John, the same man tried to convince students to throw rocks at police. She said he was also at another rally in Halifax a year ago.

That's why she wasn't surprised to see him and two followers trying to provoke the crowd once again, Daigle said.

RCMP Const. Brian Butler says there are six to 10 skinheads active in New Brunswick. He said they love getting media attention by trying to disrupt public gatherings.

The best way to deal with them, he said, is to ignore them and their taunts.

They'll probably want a new social program to recover from the trauma

This is more a 'Rally for the Conservatives' than anything else.

BS it was a rally AGAINST the Coalition
Well, I think it was you who complained about the quality of education in Canada. What do you expect! Don't teach people about how Parliamentary Government works and someone with a lot of money to spend can tell them anything and if they don't know they will believe. Remember, only 38,545 Canadians voted for Steven Harper. He is in Parliament as the Member from Calgary Southwest. His party, the Conservatives, who elected him P.M. got 5,208,793 votes across the country, the Libs got 3,627,890 and the NDP got 2,512,886.

It's a pitty that Ujjol didn't come out and say something considering that was in his riding. He could have announced he was crossing the floor to the Conservatives or something.

And you may be right. I probably have you confused with someone else. My apology.

Just remember the idea you are putting forward here. If someone runs, and wins, on a platform than they can't change what they do. No change from their platform! If they didn't say they were going to do it, they can't.

Going from "We will not form a coalition with a party that would be damaging to our economy" to "these are my bestest friends, Jack and Gill and we're partners in a great new coalition" is a bit more than a "change" in the platform it's an adoption of a whole new platform.

I'm waiting for Kenmore to say all Conservatives are racist skinheads. Or maybe that's what Bootlegga was trying to say.

??? Isn't that an opinion? Not a fact. They still have the right to do it and it is not anti-democratic. The connies, however, have won the propaganda war waged around this.

Yep, and going from "there will be no deficit, under any conditions" to "things beyond our control dictate that there will have to be a deficit" is another example. Things change with changing circumstances! That's how Parliamentary Democracy works.
