I'm also sad that he lost in his own riding. Iggy is a decent person, and I honestly believe he started off with a positive campaign and the best of intentions. The problem was the attacks and smears against him were very effective - to the point that the other party's views on him represented him more than he could represent himself. Iggy spent so much time trying to tell people what he was "not" that Canadians couldn't even tell what he was.
Personally, I see it as a sad reflection of the political culture recently growing here. When campaigns start becoming based on fear and attacks, something is very wrong.
Anyway, I wish Iggy the best in the future. Hopefully the Liberals can find a stronger leader... I'll be patiently waiting and rooting for them while they rebuild. They better make sure to do it properly this time.
MY heart doesn't bleed for Iggy. He gave it his best shot and failed. I think he's probably happy that he lost his seat. It gives him and excuse to move on to greener pastures where his talents will be more appreciated. And for someone with the success he's had, a little failure will probably make him a better man.
Agree about the attack ads tho.
