We sure have a lot of 'armchair politicians' around here. Reminds me of an old saying; " The people who really know how to run the country are too busy either cutting hair, driving cab, or tending bar"! Everyone here ( myself included) is just tearing down and insulting the parties, but I have yet to see anyone 'step up',and offer 'their' solution. Well now's your chance.
What name would you give to your political party? What is your platform? What timeline would you give yourself to act on your promises? What would you change about the way things are done now? Remember to 'keep it federal'.

If I was Prime Minister I would;

Go with the Progressive Conservative name. Progressive as in 'moving forward' , and Conservative as in Cautious. Changes would be proven to be in the best interests of the majority of Canadians before being implimented.

In no particular order here are the ten prominant changes I would make. Most are self-explanetory, the others I will explain breifly.

Immediately upon being elected the G.S.T. would be abolished.

Immediately upon being elected, personal income taxes would be cut by 10%. A possibility of further cuts would be determined with-in 180 days.

Personl income tax for seniors would be completely, and permanently eliminated. They have paid enough!

The military would be completely re-vamped. Military service would be a much sought after career. Canada will be recognized as having an ARMED forces second to none in the world! The very best people for the job would be chosen for this rebuilding. 'Paid figure heads' would be tossed, and replaced with a 'real working spokesperson. Someone with a military background. Preferably someone with combat experience. Funding cuts would be restored. Salaries ( after basic training) will have parity with what city police forces pay. A cop MAY get shot at during the course of his carreer. In all likelyhood, a soldier WILL be shot at several times!

Immediately, the long-gun registry would be abolished.

Immigration; A good command of both official languages is required. Only those people who have the education or proven ability to make a positive contribution to Canada will be permitted to relocate here. If they already have a dgree from your country of origin, they will do a 12 month residency under close supervision and provided they are deemed knowledgeable in their feild, they would then be required to write the same exams that those they wish to work with had to write. If they do not meet the standard then either they pay their own way start from the beginning, and take the proper training or return to their country of origin. Thereafter, Immigrants who do qualify will have a probationary period of 5 years of 'good standing' before being considered for citizenship. Any violations of the criminal code and they will be sent back to their country of origin AFTER they have paid the penalty according to our laws. No appeals! They would be well advised to consider the consequences of their actions. We are willing to give them a chance at a better life. Make the most of it!

Immediately, marijuanna would be legalized. We have wasted far too much time and money 'chasing a fart in a windstorm! The resources would be better put to use elsewhere.

Every level of Corrections Canada would be the Militaries' domain. All prison facilities would be operated as is a military prison. Staffed by military personnel. From juvenile on up. Provincial prisons would fall under this jurisdiction as well. Boot camps from start to finish. Not a place anyone would care to visit a second time. Recidivism would become a thing of the past!

Native issues will be dealt with completely within twelve months. Once and for all! Not many people will actually be satisfied with the results, but SUCK IT UP! We have been screwing around for decades, trying to appease everyone on issues that have been going on for over one hundred years. These situations, for the most part were created by people with personal agendas, most have died or moved on. We shall 'move on' also. These issues have only served a very few, all the while consumming massive resources that also will be better spent elsewhere, hereafter. Indian reserves will be done away with in that the land will be deeded to each individual member as PART of their settlement. They are free to do what they will with it. They would be advised to 'hire some Hutterites' to show them how to 'make it work'!

The resources of Canada belong to ALL CANADIANS. An equitqble division is in order immediately. The big oil companies and other big business better get ready to take a 'big hit' in the wallet! Either that or they can 'hit the road' and we will build our own refineries and mills and handle the world market. Essentially, we will be taking the lions share of the profit from now on. Canadians will always enjoy the 'lowest prices in the world' for our commodities. If other countries want what we have, then they WILL pay for them.

Free pizza and beer for everyone, Tim Hortons will be declared a drug pusher (with all the hopelessly addicted Tims junkies out there, it MUST have drugs in it) and closed, Hockey and baseball will be played 12 months of the year, and broadcast on all channels for free (with no commercials). Ok as PM, the 1st thing I would consider is hire Ziggy to build some pipelines to 24 Sussex. Actually, not really for what everyone is assuming which would be oil. Instead it would be for beer. That would actually be good for the environment since no need to take the Limo to the convenience store to get some.

Next, I would send the Zigster up north to protect our Arctic sovereignty. In fact, would send him up there ''all by himself'' to defend against potential threats such as the Russians amongst others. Well, perhaps he should have a companion, so I would volunteer QBC to bring some supplies there too. Have fun with them Caribous boys.
