Taken from the front page of Edmonton Journal

"We believe it will be a tough election. We believe it will be a tight election. And, yes, we believe in all likelihood it will be a minority."

http://digital.edmontonjournal.com/epaper/viewer.aspx

So why the FUCK are we wasting $300 million on an election if it won't make a difference?

Why we're having the election: The Cons hope that the popular vote for the Liberals will tank, and they'll lose a lot of those $1.75/vote subsidies, and fight another divisive, expensive leadership campaign.

Why is Harper talking minority: The Cons always tank when they get close to majority territory, so Harper's trying to downplay that possibility so that maybe it will happen.

Harper has to say that. Every time he close to majority numbers, voters run the other way and his lead evaporates.

The only reason we're having this election is so that the LPC has a valid excuse to get rid of the lamest opposition leader Canada has ever had the misfortune of being associated with.

I wonder what the trade off with the Conservatives was to get the PM to call an election?

My guess would be that this'll be the last election for at least 3 years, at which time the new Liberal Leader will have fufilled his part of the agreement and we'll be back at the polls. ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

No, the reason we're having this election is that Harper is seeking a majority and figured he'd better get to the polls before the economy tanked and his many scandals caught up with him. he broke the spirit, if not the letter, of his own law to force the election on his terms.

We should be used to Harper breaking the law by now though. He broke election law in the last election and the courts found he broke the law three separate times while he was attacking the Wheat Board. The man is a habitual criminal.

Those crimes are okay though...he didn't help 'steal' money from taxpayers, which as we all know, is the worst crime anyone can commit...

Of course the Tories are going to say they think its going to be a minority. They're not going to come out and say they think they will win a majority. Its bulletin board material to say otherwise.

...er...actually...he did steal money from taxpayers. Using the money that is supposed to inform Canadians on parliamentary actions for Conservative political pamphlets. That's pretty much stealing.

I think it will be a majority because people are falling for the phony image and not paying attention to the details.

Oh yes...and can anyone tell me why even in black and white Harper looks like he is wearing make-up? Sometimes I think it is a picture of Kim Campbell.
