To Harper, the Conservatives and those supporters of the conservatives here.
Your time has come.

The people have voted, you have your chance.

You want my opinion from afar? The Liberals nailed the cons to the cross, so to speak. After 13 years of alleged demagoguery and thievery, if this is the best the Cons can do, they are up shits creek. It's obvious Canadians don't trust either a) Harper or b) the cons in general.

Anyways, congrats to your new government. Best of luck.

Yes, the Liberals sure hammered those nails to the proverbial cross so to speak with their excellent campaigns smudged with baseless accusations and lame tactics of desparation. Hell, all they ever did was attack the Cons instead of reassuring Canadians of their intrinsic values to get rid of their own corruption and scandal plagued party ethics. I think the Cons did an pretty good campaign and won major victories in Ontario and Quebec and of course the obvious West so no that isn't the best the Cons can do because the future will answer that well enough. Maybe they will do better, maybe not. Considering how the Cons did last time around, this is a major step forward and like someone else indicated, Canadians don't quite trust Harper (yet) or you could add another answer to your multiple choice c) Canadians still cling to Liberal values regardless of what they do to Canadians.

Just a question. Since the cons knew to get elected they had to move further left then thewy were and were rewarded (though Lib scandals gave it to them).

Since Martin is stepping down and all those implicated are gone will you and the west give the Liberals a chance when they "clean house" and re-build the party?

I was impressed with the Harper campaign. The issue a day early on was a shrewd move on his part. I pray he can keep his caucus from disintegrating in the coming months.

I don't speak for the West but I think it's much more than a matter of cleaning up their house and re-building the party. The Liberals did the damage and it will take a lot of cleaning up. I don't hate the Liberals like some people on here and this election proves that the West is indeed in with these politics so perhaps there is some hope in the future for the Liberals in the West I don't know. The Liberals alone in Alberta was cleaned out were they not? but BC and Saskatchewan and Manitoba are always strong possibilites.

I know. To come so far (8, possibly 10 seats in Quebec) they better keep the tape on for the sake of the country.

We would have to see how they "clean house" and rebuild the party. You are asking us to give them a chance on something that has not materialized. Yes, Martin is gone, but that is not enough for me to swing to the Liberals. I will be able to answer this question better after the house cleaning comes in. At this point there is no way I will swing liberal just due to the fact that Martin is gone. Keep asking the question though. Just ask again after something happens in the next few weeks/months/years in the Liberal or NDP parties.

I would rather say that "we" as Canadian have "our" chance. Remember that we are all Canadian. You may not like the Cons, or you may even hate them, but this is about Canada and the future. What happend tonight may have been the second to last thing you wanted but give it a chance. You never know. [flag]

I'm gonna be out on my lawn, staring blankly, waiting for the day that the Cons screw up, But I do like some of Harper's plans. Now we'll finally get a decent military. I just hope things can get done in Parliament with a minority government. If Harper decides to push certain issues forward, then it's back to the polls.....and no one wants that.......

BTW, New Liberal leader should be John Manley, I don't care if he's retired...
