I said so back (on the Macleans website) when the gov't almost fell over the budget.

This time we'll likely get a minority Con gov't. If it can't work with the Bloc or NDP, we'll have another election that will cost another $250 or so million.

The funny thing is if they had chosen MacKay as 'puppet' and let Harper control the strings, this election wouldn't even have been close. No one in Ontario would be worried about the hurt little puppy dog Belinda kicked...

For me it is about complete provincial equality in Confederation, Triple E Senate, an elected Judiciary, citizens initiated referendums, property rights, etc etc

It will evaporate overnight and await developments. Conversely, should the Libranos win a majority Alberta would not be around for the next election in its present state.

I guess it's harsh of me to think that if AB was the sort of place that attracted immigrants at a level that would raise its proportion of seats, it also wouldn't be the kind of place that would vote for the Reform Party (in whatever guise).

smugness? sure that's your interpretation, personally I think Alberta has plenty of legitimate greivances about how its been treated during the past 13 years and I would've strongly opposed any attempt to appropriate any more of Alberta's oil revenue than the federal govt currently takes in from existing taxes. However, its also true that Albertans have been hostile to the Liberal Party for 30 odd years now and to a certain degree whatever Ottawa had done you wouldn't have been happy.

You mean Alberta will be newest State in America, and greater-Fort McMurray will be the newest province in Canada? Yeah I can see that.

Canada needs another party, that stays put in the centre, because Canadians generally vote there. Liberals are done for and another party should step up. No one likes Communists or Nazi, we need more options than that. Liberals, after this election, should change their name and start off fresh -boy that would be funny. Seriously though, they had a good run, time to get a new party to step up and take the spot of Liberals. Hopefully, someone does it before the next election. Which I guarantee WILL happen in the next two years, most likely in one.

Ninety-something seats isn't exactly "done for".

Hopefully, they will purge Martin.

Your aspirations of Seperation are still young, and lack popular support. You can make such claims, when you can elect a seperatist party. What right now, you are quite far from doing.
