The writer they've had for 40 years is leaving, and you can tell.

I thought this last story line where The Master takes Time Lords and blends them with Cybermen was pretty good though. A proper adversary for The Doctor.

But the Doctor regenerating back into David Tennant for the third time? Deus Ex Machina is starting to strain.

Not much to watch right now. Just Andor and the remnants of The Walking Dead. House of the Dragon ending left a huge empty spot that's for sure. Hopefully Foundation Season 2 arrives sooner rather than later - adding Ben Daniels is a huge plus because I've yet to see that guy give a bad performance in anything and that includes in the wretched Doom movie with The Rock way back when in the early 00's.

I kind of liked Foundation but it annoyed me how often Jared Harris' character had actually planned for what seemed like an unforeseen event. It was too convenient and I know the book series wasn't any better. Asimov had some great ideas, but was a lousy writer.

Asimov is like Edgar Rice Burrows, Arthur Conan Doyle, or Robert E. Howard now. The characters and universes that were created by these legends will be forever immortal but the stories themselves haven't stood the test of time. It's not that the plots are bad, it's just that the prose is now unreadable. I feel the same about Michael Moorcock. I'd kill to see an Elric or Corum movie or series on HBO. But there's no way that I can venture back into the books ever again. What was beyond awesome when I was young and first read them is long gone. The last time I tried to read Elric, several years ago, all I could come away with from the basically silly prose was a borderline "this actually kinda sucks".

They realised they couldn't top the Simpsons treehouse of horrors parody of it from this halloween and decided to hang it up.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:

That’s unfortunate. They had a plan to finish the series in the fifth season. But I understand too. The last two seasons were very convoluted.

There is an understatement. I have the same problem with so many of the shows that run a short schedule. I can never remember what the hell happened last season. Westworld took a 2 year break, so that made it even worse.

Might as well have named Interview With The Vampire as Backdoor: Let The Right Biggest One In. Too gay, way way way too gay. If there was a show that was just sort of slimy, scummy, and mean from beginning to end then IWTV was it. Then again the source material is like that too, just a bunch of superpowered psychopaths killing anything they want whenever they want for no other reason than apparently they're some sort of master race, so it's no surprise that all the adaptations have the exact same ugly vibe to them.

That was exactly how the book was written. Gay, check. Master race, check. Unnecessary violence, check.
