JJ Abrams is slated to direct? Alright! 10 bucks says these Romulans are the descendents of the DHARMA initiative. Also, Locke is Spock.

The Voyage Home, that was a good one. Although I admit First Contact was my all time favorite in terms of feature films.

Canadaka Canadaka: $1: 04.21.2006 BREAKING NEWS: J.J. Abrams to Produce "Trek XI"
J.J. Abrams, producer of hit shows Lost and Alias, as well as director of the upcoming Paramount film "Mission: Impossible III," is slated to produce and possibly direct the next Star Trek feature, according to today's Daily Variety and sources at Paramount Pictures. There is no title as yet for the new movie, but it will be the eleventh in the franchise. (Until a title is selected, we will usually refer to the project as simply "Star Trek XI.") Although there isn't an official Paramount press release announcing the movie, it is a confirmed project under development with a 2008 release date targeted. Word about the Abrams project surfaced this morning (April 21) in the daily trade paper. He will be writing the script with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who penned "M:i:III." STARTREK.COM will keep you up to date on all official statements as they are released.
According to Variety, the proposed story will focus on the early days of James T. Kirk and Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and their first mission in space. UPDATE 04.27.06: Abrams has since indicated this may not be the case; see this article for his recent comments.
Abrams' producing partners from Lost, Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk, are cited as being producers on "Trek XI." This project is separate from the previously rumored script developed by Eric Jendresen and overseen by Rick Berman. The former Star Trek producer is not involved in this project.
This announcement is exciting news, and we look forward to following developments on this project every step of the way!
I missed this news, there had been rumours of course, but this is solid. And i'm glad someone else is producing it, need a change from Rick Berman.
well i agree with you that Berman has to go, but i dont like this idea of a "young" kirk and aspock. Call me an ol fogey but whenever i hear Kirk ans spock i think Shatner and Nimoy - anything else will be a disappoinment

Patrick_Ross Patrick_Ross: I hate to sound like a total DS9 mark, but...
I think a DS9 movie is needed. So many loose threads.
I agree with you, I'm one of those obscure people that loved DS9, and would love to see a movie about it, especially if it involved the Dominion Wars.

i loved DS9, actualy just today watched the final episode, been watching the whole 7 seasons over the last couple months. I have to say i liked it 110% more the second time around. I wouldn't mind seeing a DS9 movie. But i dont think its gunna happen this time around.

xerxes xerxes: Yank-in-NY Yank-in-NY: I'd like to see 7 of 9 on IMAX. Preferbly R-rated! And sireJoe, it's Cardassians. But yeah, a DS9 movie would be good. They had some excellent actors in that series, but it was writen into oblivion.
When the comedy wasn't too cheesy, I really liked the whole fleshing out of Ferengi culture that we got on DS9.

Ha! Thats what I've been doing I still have to watch the last like 4 eps of the last season. Also known as some of the coolest battle scenes of the ST genre. In my POV anyways. If the dont do a DS9 movie, they are all idiots. It was ripe with movie plots all over.
Oh and CKA sorry about the other thread. I'll try not to participate in off topic discussions, my bad.
