A the first nation of hockey and the fact that there isnt (and in some ways shouldnt) a 1972 Summit Series or Canada Cup movie, this movie about the American victory in Olympic hockey in 1980 over the USSR should be boycotted nationally. This Disney movie is undoubtedly the Hollywoodization of the game and is a crime against hockey.

SPREAD THE WORD! boycott MIRACLE

I for one am going to boycott it it was filmed in canada for one thing. As a matter of fact I have a cousin in it but I am not going to watch it.
I wish to god that they would make a hockey movie that involved canada. Like the seventy two summit series that would make a hell of a movie it has it all intrigue suspense action. We could get Don Cheery to write the script :D

There hasn't been a decent hockey movie made since "Slapshot". I doubt this is about to change with the release of "Miracle". I have a strong suspicion this movie should come with a warning to diabetics.

Yeah I really liked mystery alasaka my self feeko. I wonder how long it took Crowe to learn how to skate he didnt do all that bad.
As for being childess and petty in a way you are right. I think it goes back to the 72 summit series. The best hockey I have ever seen bar none. And the states didnt pick it up. MInd you there were a lot of yanks pissed off over that two bros from washington state became canadians over that. that is a hell of a way to become citizens of a country tho.
personally I think miracle on ice has been over done. Herb brooks did a hell of a job I did cheer for the states when they played except when they played us of course. LOL maybe we could of used a looney at center ice then. hmm did we haqve a loonie back then tho.
Any hoo I do see your point Bud.

Once again we have Canadians that feel that Americans have no right to be proud of their achievements, and rather than posting about our pride of winning in '72, we decide that bashing their win in 1980 is probably a good idea.

Is Canada waiting for some other country to do a movie about the '72 series? The Americans won in 1980, and now they're doing a movie on it. Good for them, and good for hockey.

Rivalry is healthy, and I like it. Boycott? *sigh* Aside from the fact that they have the right to be proud of something they accomplished and do a movie on it - do you think that boycotting will somehow injure them? Why do you want to bring financial harm to someone making a movie about one of their achievements (that doesn't involve dropping bombs on anyone)?

What if it was the Swedes, would you boycott the hockey movie then? Pure silliness, and very anti-American.

And atleast Slapshot included Canada and Canadians.

It still confuses me why Mighty Ducks 2 had ICELAND in the finals but totally ignored Canada in the whole movie!!!!

... with Mukluk.. Since it was a real victory, they should be allowed to make a movie about it.... Who Cares? Now, if they were making a movie about the "American victory over USSR in '72" thats some reason to be pissed... As Hollywood "fucks up" history from time to time.. Anyone seen U-571? You really think it was American Special Forces that fought with the Nazi's and the SS over the Enigmas? It was the British... Anyone believe that the Americans won the American Revolution by fighting fairly and fighting on their own? (The Patriot) If it wasn't for the French, the colonists would of lost. As put by Micheal Moore...

"They [French] sent troops, ships, 90% of the gunpowder we used, and tens of millions of dollars." "The war ended at Yorktown with the British surrendering to Washington and the band laying "The World Turned Upside Down"- but the Brits were actually surrendering to the French. The Redcoats were boxed in by the French navy. and on that final day, there were more French troops in the ranks than colonists"

Now, another thing about bullshit is Canadians on this site that say "We kicked the Americans assess in 1812!" Now, that could be considered more or less true.... But we were still a British colony and majority of the soldiers (and civilians) still considered themselves British...

Laconfir I enjoy your posts you are one bright teen. ok so you agree with Mukluk fine. I find it hard to watch an american film filmed in canada and have them say it is Lake Placid etc. I am not ,Maybe I sounded like it dissing the yank team Brooks did a hell of a job with those players. But I wont watch it. from what I heard the film was filmed in a town down from Trail bc that is no where near nor looks like lake placid.
I do not understand this sentence I quote'' the american victory over the ussr in 72''
were you trying to say if they changed the team from canada too the usa beqating the ussr then you would be pissed hell yeah hollywood takes things out of context . Did you ever see a movie with Alan Ladd in it called Saskatchewan they had the rockies in Sask for gods sake. the biggest hill in sask is a gopher mound.
Mike was right if I had diabetes I would nt see it . Its 1:12 in the Am maybe I will make more sence in the morning hell i never make sense. But like I said I wont watch an american film filemd in canada and having people believe it was the states . Superman Kansas nope southern AB overlooking the cemetary where they buried clarks dad you see a alberta wheat pool elevator UGG and pioneer and cars with alberta plates. give me a break

Havent you people realized it yet :!: :?:

The reason why their making a movie out of it is because the victory came from an AMERICAN team! Everybody on earth knows, if something big happens to Americans, whether its hockey or darts (Which out ranks hockey in popularity in the US) their gonna make a movie out of it. Because everybody knows that AMericans deserve that best and that the world revolves around them...

I'm sorry, but the media treats Americans as if their too cool for school. It doesnt matter what your gender is, what race you are, how fit you are, if you American, the world has to love you.
