This reminds me of an old rural proverb....
A young farmer seeking to relocate was "walking over" a prospective farm. Over the back fence he noticed the old farmer next door and stopped to chat. During the conversation, the young guy inquired as to what the neighbours were like thereabouts. The old boy inquired what they were like where he came from. The young guy replied "Not worth a damn!" To which the old fellow replied "You will find them the same here." The conversation ended.
