I am not sadistic, so it is good to hear this woman will be ok. That said, wtf was she doing/thinking? How f..king stupid can people be? How do you drive your car right in the path of a freight train and not see (or hear) it coming? She should have her license revoked, permanently, if she didn't see/hear the train, would you want her driving through an intersection you are about to go through? Not me!!
Someone is probably thinking she was distracted, holy shit. When driving your first priority is supposed to be driving, I would love to know if she was talking on her cell or texting at the time.

Yes, I agree playing chicken with a train is not what I would call a good idea.

Playing chicken with a train is what I call Darwinism.

Lots of warehouses in this area of the city and many of the crossings aound there aren't marked. To that end, the trains are usually moving quite slowly thru these areas. I've come close to getting smoked in this area as well as I had a shop just a couple blocks from W.P.

Darwin was using the scientific method in the his observations in the Origin of The Species. Applying the scientific Method here Darwin would consider that:

as a result of an inelastic collision (as defined in Physics)and as from the Rule of Conservation of momentum

(net mv)before collision = (net mv)after collision
(m X 10) before collision = (2m X V) after collision

where v=velocity
m=mass

He would agree with the equations and conclude that it would be a good idea to stop and let the train go by.

The Intelligent Design folks might argue differently, as they like discount science and find it written somewhere that a St Christopher medal will protect you and GO FOR IT.

I'd go with Darwin and stop and let the train go by.

Warehouses all over, close together, crossings only marked with a sign post at best, real easy to get caught 'off-guard' in this area. Having said that, It's just a real good idea to be extra vigilant, but sometimes we all drive around with our thoughts being 'elsewhere'.

Growing up in Windsor, a city with some 64 level crossings (Yeah it could get pretty fucking annoying)there was always at least one death a year as a result of someone doing something stupid. However, the vast majority of deaths were caused simply by people trying to "race the train" to the crossing.

Yes it is, but I separated it from other stupid shit like riding an ATV or ski-doo along the tracks cuz that is just incredibly fucking dumb. And yes, there were mental midgets that got killed doing those very things.

ahhh i don't know man, i live by some train crossings, and they blow the hell out of their horns a good kilometer away and up to the crossing.

me thinks a driving with out due care and attention ticket should be coming this lady's way.

'Undue care and attention' No doubt! Ticket. Likely. 'Blowing the horn', not always! Sometimes these trains are slowly shunting cars between warehouses, with the engines pushing the cars as opposed to being out front pulling. I've been 'surprised' a couple times myself in this area of the city.
