Why? The city has cops around 24/7.
Why the special occasion?
Because some people decide to camp out? That would mean every campground should have their own cop and hospital. Not gonna happen.

I propose patrols, who will be walking between the tents. Yes, more money, but it will justify itself.

Why?
People die of drug overdoses on a daily basis. What is so special about this camp out?

1)They can see who's overdose.
2) If riot, it's much easier to make few sectors from crowd and fight with separate blocks that with the whole mass.

So you suggest that cops are holding a selected group of peoples hands, because they have the time to put up some kind of tent camp and do drugs?
That would not go over well with the people who actually pay these cops by paying taxes, but don't have anyone available to them when they are in trouble because they are being held up by some people who choose to camp out in the dead of winter and CHOOSE TO DO DRUGS. You really want to give them special priveleges?

I thought this was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration?

It depends how cops are good, if they're they can have some priveleges. Riots usually begin from this "peace".

I don't really get your point tho.
What do you expect the city to do? Prevent people from OD-ing or start a riot by being there visibly?

Demonstrations ARE allowed, when they apply for a permit.

This is a camp out, using Occupy as an excuse. This woman that died was a homeless heroin addict who found shelter at this camp site. Do you know how many homeless drug addicts there are in Vancouver? Come on. Get real.
Just because a woman OD-ed at this particular site, the site should get special security??
What about "the streets" where people OD on a regular basis? Should they get max security too because someone OD-ed?

what means OD-ed? They have, Brenda, that's called "drugs in mass actions", not so good for society.

Everything must be under control. Safety is first of all, I know that is sounds strange but government have to support things like that by better medical care.

Why?
There is a medic at the site and they can always call 911. Do you have a hospital or a 24/7 doctor around? I don't, unless you call the ER that... But that is 20 minutes away.

Maybe they should keep the drugs away from their protest site.

There's way quicker medical attention available at the protest site than pretty well anywhere else in Vancouver. Not just the occupy medics, but the fire command post that's there. The problem is that the occupy idiots don't want to involve the man, man.

I guarantee that an OD anywhere else in the city would not get this kind of attention.

They need cop 24/7 around. Here it takes much longer. Only in Kyiv 20 minutes.

Good number of cops around 24/7. That's one of the complaints against Occupy - it's costing the city money. Meanwhile we had a targeted gang shooting 4 blocks from the cop shop, but there were no cops around to prevent that. (Not that I would expect them to be).

Nope, the guy who OD'd but lived was a homeless heroin addict. This woman, we haven't been told what she died from (tho occupy people said it was an overdose, but we don't know of what) and she has a loving family that cares about her. I don't think she was homeless.
