I can see they do not want it hung in a tree. If it is your own property, fine, whatever. But it is not. Hang it out of your window, buy a little pole for under your window and all will be fine.
Personally, I think it is a disgrace to hang a flag in a tree. Do it right, or not at all...

It all depends on tree. Certain trees workout well depending on the shape,
I flag pole would be the proper way to hand fly flag though. I have An American flag on mine with a Canadian flag below it. If any of me neighbors were to object to the Canadian flag. That would be unfortunate because it is staying.

mikailus mikailus: I oppose the war entirely, but they can hang the flag any damn way they like. The Charter means nothing in this country, for it is a voluntary rag and nothing sacred. Some veterans of wars might argue with you about it being sacred. It was probably the old flag but is something they fought for and get emotional. The same is true in the states.

OldChum OldChum: Keep it up no matter what as long as it is not up side down , it is to be proud of . The other day I saw an American flag flying upside down outside someone's house. It thoroughly disgusted me.

Did it disgust you because it was up side down, or because people were obviously too stupid and ignorant to do it right?

In the UK a number of police officers are wearing a small badge of the Union Jack to support the troops in Afghanistan. Unbelievably some politicians are telling them to remove them saying, "it offends Muslims".

As putrid as our educational system might be I think people know enough about the Stars and Stripes to know which side is up.

My point is this: Do it right and gracefully, or do it not at all. Same goes for a flag in a tree. I mean, please... Buy something like this: screw it on your wall, balcony, whatever floats your boat, and hang it in there. Don't put it in a tree, touching branches, ground and what more. A little respect...

All arguments aside; It's not their tree, and the owners of the tree don't want the flag hanging there. No recourse.

Excerpt from the Canadian Heritage website. http://www.pch.gc.ca/pgm/ceem-cced/etiqtt/101-eng.cfm"The National Flag of Canada should always be flown on its own mast - flag protocol dictating that it is improper to fly two or more flags on the same mast (eg. one beneath the other). Further, the following points should be kept in mind: The National Flag of Canada should not be used as table/seat cover, as a masking for boxes or as a barrier on a dais or platform. While it is not technically incorrect to use the National Flag of Canada to cover a statue, monument or plaque for an unveiling ceremony, it is not common practice to do so and should be discouraged. Nothing should be pinned to or sewn on the National Flag of Canada. The National Flag of Canada should not be signed or marked in any way (A border could be attached to the outside edge of the Flag on which it would be acceptable to have signatures leaving the Flag itself untouched)."

Let me find another pic (btw, it is a LION!! ) THIS is the way you flag in Holland, if you don't have a pole. And, considering the small yards, most people do NOT have a pole in their yards, so this is the way you flag... Not everyday thouhg, that is not allowed.
