A poster in the comments section made a an interesting point about falling homicide rates. It's not that violent crime rates are dropping, it's just that our medical treatment is getting better at saving the lives of those who likely would have succumbed to their injuries in years past....and we still have a month and a half to go with the holidays coming. they're usually good for a few drunken homicides due to increased alcohol consumption and close proximity to family....and the fact that cold weather drives people indoors , another source of tension.

Its not the health care that is the problem. The gangs are. End prohibition and force them to work to get ahead instead of taking the easy way.

Someone made a comparison to U.S. cities in this record breaking streak of Winnipeg. They said that many U.S. cities have much bigger murder rates than Winnipeg, I thought about the old ´´But the U.S.`` card when something does not go right in Canada.

Comparing it to the U.S. is no excuse to sit on their butts and do nothing about Winnipeg´s murder capital status.

Actually, Edmonton is in the lead, with 43 murders this year.

Most of them have been blunt instrument or edged weapon, with the two (or more) people knowing each other. One was in jail. Most of them have been solved. The ones that aren't appear to be gang releated.

What would anyone propose to reduce the number of crimes of passion? How about 'less stress'?
