So the 'Freemen' are going to 'set up' their own police force.. Logically, this would be done so that if 'another freeman' were to contravene a 'Freeman's law', the offender would then be 'assessed a penalty'!

Wouldn't that then mean that the 'Freemans' society is modelled after the very society they claim to be totally against? What is the difference? The point? [huh]

What if a freeman police officer pulled over another freeman who turned out to be a free-er freeman who was not under said freeman's laws but was under free-er freeman laws...

That's exactly the history of the wild, wild west. It ended in a showdown at high noon.

Well then the freeman police officer can just bludgeon the free-er freeman with his handy flashlight and hope the free-er freeman police don't catch up with him.

And I hear the free-er freeman police are dangerously under staffed and underfunded.

I rather enjoy the irony of so many of you carping on these folks for not paying taxes when you celebrate the fact that you all pay atrocious taxes to support people who don't pay taxes. :!:

The only thing is you don't like this mob of freeloaders. You just want freeloaders you like. :idea:

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
What groups specifically are you talking about that don't pay taxes?

According to the CRA about 30% of working-age (18-65) Canadians don't pay taxes. That group.

Freemen...it's better than the usual label these types get...wacko survivalists/militia men.

I recently read Patriots: How to Survive the Coming Collapse that was really nothing more than a thinly veiled right wing survivalist handbook masquerading as post-apocalyptic fiction.

One of the 'protagonists' in that book uses almost the exact same argument when confronted by a cop for not having a driver's license or registration, to which the cop replies, you militia types piss everyone off by running around spouting 200 year old laws that are no longer legal or relevant. Shortly afterwards the officer draws his pistol because he thinks the militia guy is reaching for a pistol and a shootout occurs. And of course, the government is vilified, while the guy who fired an assault rifle at the cops is made to look like a hero.

And, of course, we can measure the entire movement by one work of fiction.

With respect to your curious yet often immaturely inflammatory posts on Canadian politics, this is probably one of your more senseless rants.

You're better off looking for Obama's Black Panthers under your bed...

Not really. I've oft said I oppose paying taxes to support freeloaders and I've been soundly chastised for my insensitivity. Now you all have some right-wing freeloaders on your hands and you're up in arms (rhetorically speaking).

Really, what are these people doing that members of some liberal-love-fest-beneficiary groups don't do?

* They don't pay taxes.
* They drive without licenses.
* They don't even register their cars.
* They hate your government.

Last I checked, these were Canadian prerequisites for immigrants. :idea:
