KorbenDeck KorbenDeck: Brenda Brenda: So you are saying that just because I have a uterus, I should have as many children as possible, take care of everyone (including daddy, who "works hard all day so when he comes home, he can sit on his ass), and totally forget about my own needs, only to make sure, that when I am of the age of retirement, I am already dead?
I am not allowed to do the things I love, because I have to take care of 14 kids? Or did you mean that I have to put them all in daycare so I can go to work too, so when I come home from a hard days work, I still have to feed my 14 kids and do 16 loads of laundry, plus the dishes? ONLY because I have a uterus?? I never said any of that, you did. When I was saying "you" I was referring to any married couple. There is no reason why one cannot have children and still enjoy life. There is no reason why you need to have 14 children, I only said to contribute to the younger generation (basically have 2 children). There is no reason why you have to stay home all day doing housework. There is no reason why you have to forget about your own needs, and give up things you love. This isn't the 1950's, any self respecting adult can successfully raise children and still enjoy life. P.S. No one "reaches" retirement age, you have to earn it. When I said "I", I meant "any woman". Now what do you think happens if the pill hadn't been invented? How many children would "any married couple" have? If the pill hadnt been invented, we would have definitely been in the '50's.

KorbenDeck KorbenDeck: Want my personal opinion? (bet you don't but I'll give it anyways):
I have 3 reasons why I believe almost everyone should have children (at lest in Canada).
1) Humans like any other biological entity on this planet basically have one sole purpose, that is to reproduce. We are born, we have children we die, life goes on. If you do not have children, life doesn't go on.
2) Socialism: The life expectancy in Canada is 81 years, we have an aging population that wants to be supported by the younger generations. If you want the younger generations to support you, you need to make sure you created a younger generation to begin with. I am part of that younger generation, and I know that when all the baby boomers start to retire my taxes are going to go threw the roof, you think its bad now, just wait 15 years. Like it or not 95% of the time once you retire you become a drain on resources in Canada.
3) East vs West: Plainly put Western Society is going extinct, it all comes down to demographics, we have an aging population where as Islamic Society has an exploding population. In our desperation to get our population to increase Canada brings in huge amounts people who do not share our ideals, and with the internet (this forum is an example) those people will never assimilate. So my biggest fear is that in 50 years there will be no Western Society at all.
Note: I threw this together real quick so I haven't read it over
The pill has given women the choice, and they've made it - less breeding. It's the same in the developing world - as prosperity comes and women become educated and have other opportunities, they chose to have less children. This is a good thing, since I think even 6 billion people is more than the planet can sustain in the long run. We're going to have to find a way to adapt to this, how to build a sustainable economy without continual growth of population. The Chinese will come to face this dilemma big time, as the one child policy children reach adulthood. Actually decline in population can be a good thing. Europe lost 25% of it's population to the black plague. This meant an end to the famines that came about every 4 years. Also the beginning of the value of labor - serfs could bargain who to work for, didn't have to accept just a crust of bread, could may bargain for 2 or 3 crusts. That's when Europe really took off and came to dominate the world. (China burning it's fleet that had been built to explore the world didn't hurt either). Notice how our present rulers are trying to reverse the bargaining power of labor by importing people to undercut it.

I'm with KorbenDeck. Specially with the East vs. West argument. While we are going instinct by not reproducing, we HAVE to import races like Arabs and Chineses to keep the country afloat. What will do when they will be more than us ? It won't happen in 50 years. It's happening right now.

I think women should be barefeet, back in the kitchen, and pumping out as many babies as possible to push forth our Western Christian ideals onto the world.
Oh and they should be cooking and cleaning.

That being said, why don't we just hire them to breed, pay them a decent wage for their efforts with a bonus for a fine productive male, or better yet, aonther fine productive white uterus.

Hell, The MacDonalds don't even have to use women anymore, to keep their numbers up. They switched to sheep generations ago.
