Plenty of Right-Wingers on CKA are (were) huge fans of Bush.

Why fucking prance around it?

There's a difference between being a fan, and creating Obama foods and organizing buses to Ottawa to have a chance to see Obama for about 5 seconds.

Apparently you don't remember 'freedom fries'...

Freedom Fries was an expression to get back at the French, had nothing to do with Bush. apparently you and your other user name don't remember.

It's funny how the tide has turned. Any time Harper made nice with the Americans we'd have people on here calling him Bush's lap dog(ya you Kenmore). Now left wing Canadians can't get enough of their new American mesiah.

It works the other way as well.

How so?

No answer? I was wondering what that meant also.

Maybe that's because they percieve a profound difference between the two men. Do you think everyone should react to the President of the United Staes exactly the same, regardless of who it is?

R=UP

Yes, Freedom fries=Bush fries, and people in Canada called them Freedom fries whenever Bush came to visit...right. :roll:

Seriously, first, Freedom fries was used in the USA for maybe...15 minutes, and only in Washington, and second, nobody in Canada used it, at least I hope not.

RUEZ RUEZ:
Other then being the first black president, tell us what Obama has done to deserve this adoration?

Ah RUEZ, should you not wait just a bit before you ask that question. Canadians are interested in Obama because he is the first black American President, he leans toward the left from somewhere in the American political spectrum, where the bulk is quite far to the right (to call him a leftist is just ignorant.) and more important than anything, he is not George W. Bush. Bush alienated Canadians in a number of ways, the most significant being when he called us the enemy because we were not with them on Iraq. This despite Canadian troops being in Afganistan at the time. Canadians Obamamania, if it exists, is mainly from a feeling of relief that Bush and his ilk have been defeated (at least for the time being)--remember---McOldguy got over 45% of the vote--that line of thinking is nowhere near dead in the U.S.

So Canadians are idolising him because he won against a candidate that had a handicap. No one sees an issue with that?

Tricks, I didn't say it's a good or bad thing, just that is the way it appears. Obama is the Pres. of the U.S.A and we should expect, just like Americans do, that what he does will take into consideration American issues first. Popularity in Canada, Russia or in Samoa won't make a difference in that. Canadians are just celebrating the end of GWB. As I said, someone like Bush will be back sometime in the future. If you want my opinion, and I am sure you don't, it's not safe to cozy up too close to the Americans, no matter who is in power there.

If anything, 'Buy American', and wanting to reopen Nafta
could make Obama worse than Bush.
