Thanos Thanos:
You mean we get to lose everything and you get to win everything because in the fever swamp of current American right-wing thinking that's the only acceptable outcome anymore. One boss and a million slaves. No friends. No allies. Nothing but a lopsided relationship with the terms dictated by an absolutist sadist.

Fuck that.

You don't have a right to access our markets while limiting our access to your markets. And that's been the net of the current trade situation.

Trump is moving towards sectoral reciprocity as a trade policy with the rest of the world and I'm all for it. That means if you restrict our access to your markets then we'll do the same to you. If you lower or eliminate barriers then we do the same for you.

But again the status quo of a structural trade imbalance is over and done.

Like it or not.

What does an expiration date have to do with access to markets? That's a non-starter too.

Don't even get me started on softwood. You guys are taking a bath over that too.

Well, here's one for you to tell the Secret Service about. As unlikely as it is to ever happen, if I was ever close enough to give Trump a hug my only wish would be to be wearing two or three claymore mines taped to my chest. That's what I think about your Dear Leader and his nauseating effect on the world.

If I had the ability and the opportunity to do it I would. In a heartbeat, and with my last heartbeat. If it takes violence to end a great evil then so be it. It wouldn't be the first time or the last time in the human experience that this happened or had to happen. Here's something Bart would readily agree with - those who say violence doesn't solve anything doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. The only difference between him and me is that he thinks America has the endless right to inflict it outwards and that no one else is allowed to hit back at them for their trespasses and the humiliations they inflict endlessly on others. On that he's completely wrong.

A few years ago a Leftist genius Tweeted a similar comment about Harper visiting Edmonton and the RCMP paid him a visit, focus!

So be it. The Americans and their putrid leader humiliate us and we accept it. Or we say no and do something about it. There is nothing in between.

We're not humiliating anyone. We as a nation have a right to establish the terms of trade just the same as anyone else does.

And all you see here is Canada when in fact Trump is handling trade imbalances all over the world.

China will be facing some $500-800 billion in tariffs by the end of the year if they don't open up their markets to US trade and stop manipulating their currency. Or they can stop trading with the USA. That's always an option for them.

Ditto Canada. I've long said you should stop selling oil and coal to us and here's your chance.

Go ahead.

In any case, we now have a leader who is putting it all on the line for the American worker and the future of our country.

Maybe it's time you folks had a leader who would do the same for your country.

Do you actually beleive that?

None of these actions will help your Country. It's been said over and over again at the damage to your own economy and to your own workers these tarrifs will cause.

I don't want a leader with a single digit IQ. I want a leader that actually stands up for Canada based on facts & statistics and not Fox News ideology.

My fear is Trump presents a bit like Hitler, by that I mean, Hitler wanted what was best for the German People, he just had no clue how to do it. In the end what he accomplished was destroying the nation he claimed to have cherished so much.

I don't think Trump is going to gas any immigrants or anything like that, but I hope the pride you feel today is not the grief you suffer tomorrow.

Hell, I hope this for all of us,

Here's the thing; If Trump were really damaging our economy then people like yourself and Thanos would be cheering him on instead of getting so unhinged (Thanos, not you) that specific death threats are now being made against the President.
