So for everyone that's condeming the cops from what they see on the video, you should be able to tell me why the fat guy in the white t is handcuffed to the street light?

And can you fill me in on what happened to the guy across the street holding his face, walking back to the scene with what looks like a female cop?

Idk about the first one but the 2nd one if you look closely, he was resisting. He only put out one hand. The officer stopped kicking when he finally released his left hand to be handcuffed.

There always seems to be an excuse for excessive violence when it's done on the part of the police.... there is always something that the public doesn't know or cannot see even when it's caught on video...............when that doesn't work they always try to blame the victims ..............they were drinking , so it had to be their fault know matter what unless your name is Monty Robertson....

I guess the guy holding his face could have been the individual mentioned on the news tonight that was unconscious on the sidewalk getting his head kicked in by these tough guys when the cops showed up.

Don't forget - in our self indulgent "me only" culture, many people have never defined "in excess of what?"

Excessive force must exceed something.

In law, excess of force happens when you apply more force than is needed to get the job done....

Nowdays the media cry babies and idiots on the street want it to mean "in excess of no force at all," which makes all force excessive.

Sorry, act like a yob, drunken fighting in public and you takes your chances. Resist and you will be met with force. Kick and flail and punch and refuse to be cuffed and you will be met with the same. You choose your level of comfort but then don't cry about the result. Man up, if you get drunk and fight in public.

Agreed. Suck it up, pussies and don't you and your seven dumbass drunken friends lay a beating on a prone guy on the ground then whine about a boot to the back when you resist arrest.

Suck it up, pussies............perhaps you should remember, that violence indeed breeds violence............people that see this, that were not against the police or violent themselves.

Have made a conscious decision not to be abused by police.

or like the incident that happened the other day where the two RCMP were attacked ..........those three men had no fear, or respect for the police more than likely because of what they've seen on television and on the news in the last couple years..............

The more the general public gets to see acts of violence by the police the more violent the general public will become..... it's not really that hard to figure out............. when you beat a dog, usually the dog just gets mean.... it doesn't obey.......

poquas poquas:
When I heard about this I agreed this is a case where they stepped over the line, BUT this was a huge fight with eight very drunk civilians involved. I’d like to see what happened BEFORE the camera started rolling before I condemn the cops on this.

Kicking a restrained suspect is never acceptable and then tackling and kicking a cooperative suspect is never acceptable.

I consulted for VicPD once upon a time and they're an exceptionally professional outfit. Most likely the bald fellow who was kicking the two suspects will get anger-counseling and then will be graduated from the VicPD to civilian employment.

Looks like it is the asshole in the yellow jacket that they are investigating.

$1:
Of the three police officers involved in the incident, it is an officer wearing a yellow jacket in the video who is at the centre of the investigation. He can be seen kicking two different men, who were both on the ground at the time.

Sounds about right to me.

I find it strange that this type of overly agressive behaviour seems to follow Police Chief Jamie Graham wherever he goes????

Rodney's a different story.

In this one, the yellow-jacketed fellow seems to do an awful lot of kicking once other officers are engaged in the arrest.

I think video-footage of police arrests unfortunately hinders as much as it helps. While it's nice to know that misdeeds are caught on tape and prosecuted, it does seem to promote the rest of us to Monday morning quarterbacks. Who knows what was going through yellow-jacket's mind. Maybe he had enough experience to justify what he did...or, as the tape seems to almost plainly make out, he kicked a compliant fucker when he was down.

I think this is going to take a whopper tale from the Victoria Police to justify...or they prosecute Kicky-Jacket.

I think that this is the way that cops have operated for years and with the advent of ubiquitous recording media, it's now becoming evident to all. They will have to learn to adjust to the new reality of 24/7 coverage. A kick to the chops may have been an effective way to get your point across before, but they'll have to change tactics now.

I do agree that selective, grainy video footage can be problmeatic. For example, what if the footage had have shown buddy (who was on the ground getting it from Kicky-Jacket) laying teh boots to the head of a prone man (as alleged by bystanders). If I saw that footage immediately preceding the actions of the police, it might have changed my opinion about the whole thing.

I'd feel a little more sorry for the scrutinty they are under if they weren't advocating widespread police-monitored surveillance cameras here in Vancouver. Hey--you want to spy on me 24/7? Well we'll just spy on you then!
