Becuas they've realised that giving people paid vacations keeps them in good spirits and keeps them from losing productivity at their jobs. It sounds like laziness in Puritanical North America, but it works in Europe.

I'm sorry, having vacations being considered a "Human Right" is a stretch. Having vacation time is one thing, having them considered to be a human right is something completely else entirely.

It depends. You can get disability when you can are able to work 65% or less than you did before you got "disabled", and when you are completely unable to work (after an accident or something) with no chance to be able to get back to work, you get 65% or what you made the year prior, PLUS you can get up to 17000 euro for a car, or cab-costs (3600 euro..)

These are minimum wages by age (not for people on disability, just minimum wages.... 23+ year old is considered adult, under that is considered "youth")

First amount per month, second per week, third per day. It's based on 40hrs/wk, gross wages, but when you earn this, you hardly pay any taxes, if any at all. First bracket ends at 17,000 euro or something, above that, you pay taxes.

You get "holiday pay" too.

When you earn this, you can get rent assistance, healthcareinsurance cost assistance, public transit assistance etc etc. When you have kids, you also get child tax benefits, sports are subsidized...

But, welfare with kids is only 909 Euro/mo (about $1300)
(you also have right to rent assistance, and all the other shit, on top of welfare)

I knew one goof years ago when welfare paid pretty good, would do his job searches, even go to interviews, but at the interview he'd tell the prospective employer that he had health issues and would probably miss, on average, 1-2 days a week.
FYI he had NO health issues.
