This news is a week old. It does not seem to have gathered legs with the media.

Come on Lew, our media are only concerned with racist Tories.
Having an Arabic homophobe in a top UN spot doesn't meet with their agenda.

Being intolerant and non-white and non-Christian or non-Jewish is perfectly accetable to our media.

Homosexual Liberals are unacceptable. The conservative ones are alright.

I can understand the problem that this guy has given the liberals - they are pro-gay but at the same time pro-UN, and pro-Arab. So I guess they can turn a blind eye to some homophobia under these circumstances. However, if the comment had been made by a Western European...

BTW, the name's Lee.

So its his personal opinion based on what? his religion.. and that has no place in politics or his position at the UN... So no he doesn't have a right to express it! And I didn't read anything in the article about giving the liberals a hard time... Am I missing something other than the tory spin?

Reason 1254 why the UN is useless. Shouldn't this guy be booted for these remarks after all he is the President of UN GA. If it was a white guy making the remarks I'm sure there would be global uproar from most countries, why the silence ?

$1:
Treki, who is the Libyan secretary of African Union Affairs, opened the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly Friday with a press conference.

One question concerned the UN resolution which calls for the universal decriminalisation of homosexuality.

What a useless resolution. In some countries homosexual activities will land you in prison or a trip to the gallows. Does the UN think a resolution like this will change the views of such theocracies? This is the social do-gooder aspect of the UN, best personified by its infamous "Human Rights" Council that thinks the only bad country in the world is Israel.

People do not say anything because he is Muslim and people would rather let Muslims preach hate than offend them.

The Muslim bandwagon is strong

I respectfully disagree.

Western Civilization is far stronger. We simply have yet to resolve to do what the Muslims themselves will require us to do.

Again I agree Bart. People over here are writing the Brits off as selling the farm to the Jihadis. The Government gave up but the people over there are fighting mad.

Once we stop all this PC crap and realise that there is an enemy out there, including so called 'friendlies' like Saudi and the Gulf states, the sooner we get on with sorting these people out.

I don't think all Muslims are our foe, but the majority of Muslims either turn a blind eye to the radicals within, or give them tacit support.

The Muslims themselves will be the ones to put an end to the PC movement and, in doing so, will seal their own fate.
