There is no doubt that the residence requires an upgrade but, what bothers me is that the elections signs aren't even struck down and there already appears to be a sense of entitlement from what some consider Canada's Royal Family.
Of course it bothers you but it wouldn't bother you if it was Harper.
It would have especially if he'd sent his mommy to announce the renovation but, like I said optics are everything.
Harper was smart enough to move in anyway despite the fact that Margaret Trudeau had apparently been declaring the home unsafe since her untimely removal by JT's dad.

The 140-year-old stone house â home to Canadian prime ministers since Louis St. Laurent in 1951 â features a swimming pool from the Trudeau era, a hot tub from the Mulroney years, a view of the Ottawa River and a long maintenance to-do list.
The National Capital Commission, which is responsible for Ottawa's official residences, has said it needs structural work and upgrades but has not disclosed a cost estimate.
Harper appears reluctant to spend heavily on the house soon after taking power. But he has said he is willing to vacate it in the summer to allow for repairs, the Canadian Press reports.
If you read the above you'll notice that the NCC said 24 Sussex needed upgrades in 06 but didn't give a cost nor a timeline. So why the sudden urgency from the Trudeau's over the hazards and inconveniences that even Margaret has said existed since she lived in the residence 40 years ago.
