What are you hoping for? Legalizing it won't stop the drug trade; the US has to get on board too.

I could see why in the socialised medical system that we have the idea of preventing drug users makes sense. However I could care less what people do in their homes and businesses and I don't think the government really has any authority to be telling people what they can and cannot do to themselves.

Not naive enough to hope for anything. I don't use the stuff, unless it's new years eve or a Hip concert and one's passed around, so it doesn't really effect me.

However, with all the money spent going after grow ops and users, I'd rather see a tax on every step of legalized pot.

In my opinion, it isn't going away, so why throw a ton of money at it when the cash could be flowing the other way??

I am on the fence as to where I stand on this issue. On one hand if cannabis is legalized it will open the door for other drugs. This is not a good thing to have happen. The money made from the taxes will help the debt we have. Lots of money is to be made from taxing cannabis. On the other side, people will also start using cannabis as a crutch, same way some people use alcohol as a crutch. The use of any type of drug will never go away. We can try to push it into the shadows, but that is as far as it will go. As long as there is a demand out there for a product people will be willing to supply no matter the risks. This is a loss no matter which way you look at it.

$1:
"We've created this enabling environment that's resulted in a sense of entitlement among drug addicts," said Const. Tom Stamatakis, president of the Vancouver Police Association and vice-president of the national association.

Besides, the UN says it's bad. You guys love the UN don't ya?

Drugs won't be widely decriminalized but I can see marijuana being decrininalized within ten years.
