Please let this be the last time we go through this bullshit.

$1:
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio last week reintroduced the Sunshine Protection Act that would allow states to make daylight time permanent.

If passed, the law would have knock-on effects across Canada with provinces including British Columbia and Ontario waiting on neighbouring U.S. states to ditch the time change before they do so too.

It's really annoying that we have to wait for the USA to do this before we do it as well. Some places in Canada did already with no devastating consequences so WTF?

With our latitude standard time makes more sense the daylight as the year round choice. If we use daylight then in the middle of winter sunrise won't be until after 9 AM or 10 AM depending on how far north you live. Getting dark an hour earlier in summer is OK and makes it easier for those with little kids to get them to bed.

That actually makes sense (and is the way I thought it might go) but, unfortunately, with much of the US being further south they would likely opt for DST and they seem to be in control of this as our government bows down to their decision.

Why are we still doing this shit at all?

Just pick a time and Keep. It. Consistent.
