Yeah the Olympics is surely the best way to reform a country. Seriously, are any of you surprised that none of this happened? Let's just be glad that China is actually bringing out the red carpet and filling seats rather than in other games where people aren't even interested.

Communists state to a police state, only difference is it will parade stuff like Hong Kong and the Olympics as long as the leash is short they get a facade of freedom.

it doesn't surprise me...China's got the world at it's knees, especially the US. Why change a damn thing when they can have their cake and eat it too.

China's not that happy.
Thety have an huge problem with inequity in society and the rich in the cities getting richer is not helpiing. Their constantly fighting to keep their economy under control in a wild west capital system that they are not masters of. They also have a ideology that is recognised as toxic outside their borders.

yet people still put up with them and try to bargin with them....the fact that the Olympics are in China and no one had the balls to boycott them says enough.

The jocks can make up their own minds but it's looking like most of the western world leaders will be sending flunkies instead. That's a pretty big slap in the face for a society that's based on "face".
All indications are it's just going to get worst too.
