The man in his own words, as he basically laughs out loud at the extremist filth from both sides who tried to use his lightning-rod of a song as a weapon for their own disgusting causes. Good to see.

https://www.mediaite.com/podcasts/rich- ... ogan-show/

$1:
Oliver Anthony, the singer behind the viral song “Rich Men North of Richmond” told Joe Rogan that the partisan positioning surrounding his song’s success has been entertaining, but he rejects the presumptions people seem to hold about his personal views.

Anthony sat down for one of his first interviews since his song went viral on Twitter, on the Wednesday edition of The Joe Rogan Experience.

The song, which quickly became a blue collar anthem, has caused many to dig into Anthony’s past and personal life. He has been accused of being both a right wing and left wing plant.

Rogan discussed the division over the song with Anthony, who laughed off all the assumptions the public has made about him.

“We want everybody to kind of think along the ways that we think. It’s very strange. And when a person like yourself gets labeled a right wing, left wing fanatic, like right out of the gate,” Rogan laughed.

“Both in like a week and a half and yeah, at least I know I’m doing something right,” Anthony joked.

“They’re looking for your Biden campaign contributions now they’re going through your fucking taxes. The whole thing is so bonkers, man. Like, can’t they just accept that you made a great song and people enjoy it? Why do people have to attack?” Rogan said.

Anthony said the last two weeks have been filled with people just trying to figure out who he is.

“Because they want to sort of build this image of whatever it is that the person behind the song represents, for better or for worse,” Anthony said.

The right championed the economics of the 70's & 80's that literally destroyed the places where people like Oliver Anthony lives in order to appease their ultra-wealthy corporate shareholder donors.

The left long ago gave up the pretense that they gave a damn about the working class - they too got in on the Wall Street gravy train and in addiction tossed away most of their old values in order to fully embrace the identity politics that rip entire societies apart.

Why in the hell should Oliver Anthony, or anyone from the same type of background he comes from, support any of these sons of bitches from either side?

You missed nothing. A flash in the pan sensation that was mildly popular for a week or so.

The GOP foisted fame upon him when they used his song during their 1st 'debate'. It bit them in the ass because they assumed he was going to fall in line but he is beholden to nothing but also stands for nothing either. He also has a bit of a back history supporting Nazis.

From the comments in Newsweek.....

$1:
Wyrd
22 August, 2023

When Ilhan Omar said basically the same things, the media defended her.

The media also always vigourously defends each and every member of the far-left death-to-Israel "Squad" when they say the same things. And the Squad also gets tens of thousands of likes from American leftists when they tweet such things.

And Oliver Anthony also isn't a lawmaker telling other people what to do. But the Democratic Squad certainly are, and do. So don't play the anti-Semitic card when the left in the US, and in Britain, and in Canada too, is absolute loaded up with active Jew-haters in their ranks.

That right on brand with the Incoherence of Right-Wing Populism.

Saying this guy doesn't have Nazi leaning skeletons in the closet, well lets just say that dog don't hunt. I'm not disparaging the guy either rather I am highlighting that not having a grounded ideology to begin with makes him a flim flam man that will have strange bedfellows politically because he doesn't have a spine.

He is the kid at the back of the class with a pee shooter being all anti-establishment and posing as cool with his sudden popularity. Under the surface there is NOTHING.

$1:
Americans who are “selling their souls” for “bullshit pay” deserve a politics that prioritizes their interests over those of the wealthy. Building that sort of politics requires working people to form solidaristic bonds across divisions of race and employment status and to resent concentrated economic power more than government authority. Right-wing populism exists to prevent them from doing just that. So long as alienated laborers direct their outrage at overweight food-stamp recipients instead of union-busting employers, rich men north and south of Richmond will continue to wield outsize influence over American life.

Well, if nothing else you provided the best genuine laugh of the day since a neo-Marxist like yourself accusing anyone else of incoherence is about the most hilarious thing that could ever happen.

It's pretty entertaining that any time a celebrity does anything political in support of the left it's "shut up and sing, shut up and play basketball,, shut up and play football stop making everything political". But the two times this year, this guy and the guy singing about small towns, that conservatives have identified with, they've gone rabid in their circle jerk over it.

So the next time that Rage against the machine, or eminem, or green day, or Lebron, or whoever has something political to say, whether in song or an interview, I hope all the conservatives wanting to suck this guys cock like it's a straw pipe up again. Be really fun.

I quite like the song actually. It's got a lot of heart, it's genuine. A little politically confused in places, as Scape says. Kind of like Merle's Okie from Muskogee back in the day.

Not sure I concur with knocking folks on welfare. Then again, I always thought Roger Waters had mommy issues but still love The Wall.

I like it as well, reminds me of bluegrass festivals I used to see in my youth. He has a great voice he just needs to shut up and sing and drop the conspiracy bs. It's just going to burn him if he doubles down on it as the trolls will not have his back.

Yeah I like the parts where he punches up, not down. But you also cannot underestimate the seismic shift that is happening in the US (and well on its way in Canada). I mean Trump, who wants to burn Washington to the ground, is far-and-away the front runner in the Republican race. This man is facing jail from several indictments, lies for the sake of lying, throws his closest allies under the bus on a whim.

Saying, whoa that's a lot of crazy people supporting him doesn't cut it. Not that many people are crazy. There is a large swath of the American--and soon to be Canadian--population that want institutions destroyed, that want government destroyed even at the price if democracy.

That is why it is important to listen. Where I live there's probably 25% convoyers and 25% more pretty sympathetic to them.

Take 15 minute cities. The right gets ridiculed for raising alarms about it, but they are right. In dense urban environments the days of the private automobile are limited. But it's not a conspiracy. Urban planners will happily tell you that the job is enhance active transportation and public transit. Cars are dangerous, they kill thousands every year. They pollute the air. They warm the planet. The cost to maintain infrastructure is stultifying. They'll simply regulate and sin tax people out of their cars. How is that a conspiracy?

I like the part where the government boosts public transit in cities in order to get more people out of their cars. And then when public transit gets taken over by violent drug addicts the same government then says it's all in the imaginations of people who are now rightfully too scared of taking the bus or train.

It's fun to watch when two separate ideologies of a party in power, in this case liberal (and Liberal) anti-emission extremism on one hand and on the other them making it wildly easier to be a violent criminal by doing nothing to address the wild increases in crime over the last three years, smash headfirst into each other. The only thing more hilarious than watching a government cancel itself out would be taking a case of beer and riding around on public transit all day to watch all the fun. Well, the fun before some meth-head chases you down the train platform waving a machete over his head.

DeStanis did not get that memo and no matter how much money thrown at him that dog don't hunt. Trump has always been a brick thrown thru a window of the establishment but that populist message of only I can fix it is thinly veiled fascism. Trump is a wannabe despot and his way of 'fixing' things is to make it worse. Instead of being a participant in the process he means to burn the whole thing down.

Absolutely. He doesn't want to be president, he wants to be King.
