But this kid is spoiled!

Spoiled is an understatement. The kid is a rotten little douchebag without any respect. Going fast in the middle of Nevada (which yes, I've been, and yes, I can see the appeal of going that fast) but....that fast in any region with any semblance of civilization is just showing the kid is going to grow up a dipshit.

Justice of the Peace James Oates. Remember that name. Maybe it's about time we kept tabs on some of these judges that make very questionable rulings. It's a good place to start.

Elected judges? Hell yes!

Better us than some high elected politician.
Who's laws are they anyways? Not the judges or the politicians but those of the people!

Incidences like this of an "improper" police report just grate at me. Many years ago there was a woman at the Windsor border who was busted for bringing a handgun into the country with her. She was charged but when it came time for court it got thrown out. The officials had apparently written down the wrong calibre. Loophole and freedom. Never mind the fact it was a restricted firearm regardless of the calibre.

But this is just fucked. Makes me wonder what kind of cop his daddy was

Actually a lot of these "beat the ticket" places seem to be staffed with ex-police officers. The father isn't teaching his kid a very good lesson but its easy to understand why a father would want to get his son off.

Still I think the judge is doing the right thing when he says that incomplete notes are the reason he can't convict. Complete notes are a must.

I dont know if they still do it, but before the new stunt driving laws came into effect, I saw a news clip about York Regional Police who had caught a young man excessively speeding and also had thousands of dollars worth of illegal street-racing mods on his car. After a guilty verdict, the accused had to stand witness as the YRP rolled over his car with a giant steam-roller. I cant think of a more fitting verdict for this little bitch, in addition to a 1-yr suspension and a hefty fine.

Also, the cop may have deliberately made incomplete notes and/or tipped off the accused to the fact, sometimes there is a professional courtesy applied if the cops know they have 'one of their own' detained.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that's friggin brilliant lol I love it. I hope they still do that. If not, they should. The 1 yr suspension is too lenient though.

Police have rules, just like everyone else. this totally lies on the officer as he kept improper notes.

This isn't about some kid being spoiled or having "connections" this is about some overzealous cop laying a charge without proper evidence and showing up to court without proper documentation.

Having been on the other side of police abuse of power these checks and balances are in place for a reason.
