I don't see why she should be extended. There is no special circumstance to do so even if she has done the job exceptionally well for all parties concerned. I hope he chooses Preston Manning as her replacement.

Now she can go back to having FLQ members over for dinner and make her cabinets.

It's a job that requires this extreme manners, to gush sincerely, in public and on queue about someone's contribution to the country. And be reminded that the country is at least half goofs so the audience is not that receptive. By half goofs I mean goofs-for-life. We all have a goofy stage.

Anybody is OK with me, as long as they were born here, and didn't work for the CBC. How about Romeo Dallaire?

As much as I dislike Harper, this is a good idea!

I really don't see what being born here has to do with anything. You're referring to both Jean and Clarkson who, despite not actually being born here, did grow up here and basically live here all their lives.

Many Canadians are born abroad, and they're not all immigrants. If you were on vacation or maybe deployment with a pregnant wife and she had the kid in another country, would the kid be any less Canadian?
