EyeBrock EyeBrock: Another thing that drives me insane are all these shows on TV that have gained funding from the Fed's or a Province.
Toopy and Binoo get funding from Canada and Quebec, as do a myriad of other kids shows, HGTV real estate shows, bullshit game shows.
Why should my tax dollars go to this stuff? Yet I get hosed with a 'health care premium' and we have another 8% going on EVERYTHING in Ontario.
It's all bollocks! Don't they just get tax credit not actual funding?

Some get a tax credit and some get 'grants', as in tax-payers cash. No input from us required, here's the cash Toopy...

Gunnair Gunnair: As for the rest, your bias is showing. What bias????? I have nothing again gay/lesbian people. I have a friend that's gay, and it doesn't bother me. They can do what they want as long as it doesn't involve me. I just don't think it should be federally funded. Or provincally for that matter. There are far more important things to fund. There are children here in Canada that need food and shelter and whatnot. Fund that first. -J.

I'd rather the federal government cut my taxes than fund festivals of any sort (save things like Canada Day, of course).
If a provincial or municipal government wants to get involved, whatever. But it is not a federal matter.

I think we should be marketing ourselves, en masse, to foreign homosexuals. We should pick a Canadian city and turn into "Fag Vegas" (well, we'd need a marketing expert to pick a better name, but....) we could turn a Canadian city into the marriage/honeymoon/party place for gays that Las Vegas is for straights. We could make a FORTUNE performing gay marriages, especially for Americans homosexuals that can't get a marriage license in their home state. Just think of the tourism dollars we could gobble up.

Actually, that is a fabulous idea! I am sure I can find a pitoresque spot here in the Kootenays, build a nice little chapel and get tourism booming! We sure as heck need it here! AND... Where I am, is only 10 km from the border, with 2 airports closeby

You said "fabulous". I really just wanted to type "homosexuals" and "gobble up" in the same paragraph.

bootlegga bootlegga: How about Los Gay-gas? saturn_656 saturn_656: Calgary. That'd go over real well there! Calgayry, AB? Lesbridge, AB? Dykemouth, NS? Queerbec City, QC --- that'd draw regular homos and Glenn Beck-fan homos alike. Winnifag, MB --- that could be used in the Casino advertisements as part of the marketing. Brand partnership with the Winnegbago corporation? Iqueeruit, NU? --- gay tag?

According to Liberal MP Navdeep Bains, the Pride Festival generates $100M in economic activity and $18M in tax revenue. Those seem like reasonable figures for a event of this magnitude.

I think it's a good event Lemmy. Once they get rid of the "Queers against Israeli apartheid" idiots, I'd be for them getting cash.
