$1: Ooh, those pesky scientists.
Spin masters you mean! The IPCC and Real Climate share the same small clutch of activists. Science mean peer-revue not "pal-revue".
Rather odd that the genius/expert (self appointed) here still believes in the "hockey stick".
Obviously a sign that elementary school science is not his strong suit.
We are all still waiting, with bated breath, the long delayed revelation of "the science". Rev Blare promised and promised but could only produce computer generated pictures(models), an un supported theory and ad hominem attacks---on us as well as the real experts.
However, IF the climate warms, I predict a major drought in East Africa and Central America. A major current lake in kenya was dry during the MWP and the Mayan civilization collapsed due to a long drought during the MWP. History----not a mystical magical molecule offeded by diesel SUVs. However the predicted droughts in California and great plains will not occur---they didn't occur before during the MWP.
Arizona/Nevada has always been a desert.

PluggyRug PluggyRug: Still having trouble with the pedestal I see. Alright, I'm not going to pick away at this - this all started because samsquanch claimed the "anomaly" graph represented something other than temperature measurements.
The point I made was that the scale was in degrees Celcius and therefore necessarily represented temperature measurements. The reason anomalies are used instead of some other measurement is also justifiable, but that's also something he's never bothered to investigate either.
I don't claim to know everything on the subject (as I've pointed out in this thread) but I do know that if you're going to be making some critical analysis of research data (and we're not talking Al Gore or David Suzuki - people here are attacking the actual research), you need to know at least something about it.
Anyway, my issue was with him, not you.

Oh, sure. "Spin masters" Where did you find that, Deutoronomy? $1: Rather odd that the genius/expert (self appointed) here still believes in the "hockey stick". I don't think very many people do, and it should be pointed out that Al Gore is not a scientist, he is just trying to raise awareness about a problem in a manner that I will admit is rather backhanded and not at all foolproof. $1: Obviously a sign that elementary school science is not his strong suit. I have little doubt that it's not yours either. $1: However, IF the climate warms,
It's not so much "if" as it is "now".

romanP romanP: Ooh, those pesky scientists. We should all consult our bibles, clearly those people knew more.
Global warming is not a myth, but for those who would like to believe that, I will say this: you will choke on your own smog, and I will laugh at you as I choke along with you.
Sorry Atheist..bible thing dosen't apply.
Smog isn't related to climate change. Smog is polution and Kyoto and the likes does nothing about polution, otherwise the Opec nations, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and the rest of those "developing" countries would be hit harder than cleaner countries like Canada and the US who have good solid anti-polution laws.

What do you mean by "hit harder"?

Considering China is now #1 in the production of greenhouse gasses and is recognised as a far larger polluter than the US, why are they still a developing country?
Why are Opec countries also "developing" when they produce the fuel for all these cars that you greenies hate so much.
Why is the the man known as "the father of Kyoto" Maurice Strong, working so hard to bring cheap Chinese cars into the US. I thought more cars wasn't the answer.

The Chinese cars are supposed to be smaller and more efficient.

sasquatch2 sasquatch2: Back in the 60's we called them unwitting dupes.
Now they go get themselves duped deliberately.

The chinese cars displayed at the detroit autoshow had to be floated to the site and puched by hand into place. The EPA forbid them to start the engines. The exhibitors protested until the emission tests were provided. It seems the tailpipe emissions resemble a tire fire.
This is why our worst smog days resemble Beiging's best days. That and their coal fired generators which lack scrubbers---and domestic heating and cooking from burning coal dust brickettes.

romanP romanP: Climate change is happening because of pollution.
Really. You cited "smog" as causing global warming when global warming advocates, such as the High Priest Himself James Hansen, say that soot from 'pollution' actually causes cooling.
According to the scientists you like, soot from pollution causes cooling, not warming.
It's the CO2 (which isn't just from man made sources) that is supposedly causing the warming.
It's your argument, try to keep it straight, eh?

how else do you expect them to do their part to fight global warming?
maybe Al Gore will buy one of their cars.

Carbon dioxide, at the levels we produce it, is pollution.
Soot in the atmosphere is another form of pollution, which may prevent some warming by blocking out some sunlight, but there can still be warming caused by the carbon dioxide trapping heat in.
Look at it this way: if you put your hand on the window of your oven while it's cooking, you'll feel heat, but if you put your hand in the oven, you'll probably burn it. Soot is like the window to your oven. It doesn't cause cooling, it's just an insulator between you and the sun. So it's not so much cooling as it is less hot.
