The ship was 70 Nautical miles from Kaliningrad. Sure its international waters but I feel like if Russia had a ship parked 70 knots from Boston, there would be a similar reaction.

They probably do have boomer submarine lurking somewhere. Someone throw a bar of soap over the rail and force it to the surface.

True, but our guys usually dive on the Russians and pass close abeam at supersonic speeds so a few windows get broken. Those old Russkie planes would come apart at Mach and they know it!

It wouldn't be in international waters in that case tho. Does sound like the US was provoking a bit tho.

Ok well I was just basing this on what US officials said:

$1:
The U.S. official says that the Cook was clearly in international waters at the time of the incident, explaining that they were operating about 70 miles from Kaliningrad, a Russian province.

I meant it wouldn't be international waters 70 knots off Boston. I'm sure the ship was in international waters in the Baltic, since there's so many nations there, they can't all have 200 mile zones.

$1:
The Copenhagen Convention of 1857 opened access to the Baltic by abolishing the Sound Dues and making the Danish Straits an international waterway free to all commercial and military shipping.

oops turns out the most that territorial waters can extend is 12 knots. After than comes an economic exclusion zone, but you can't bar innocent passage there.

Our waters extend 12nm off of our coast...same as everyone else's.

Our fishing rights extend 200nm off of our coast. Same as Canada's.

The Turbot war was the very end of it, .. the denoument. I watched the Russian fishing fleets vacuuming the Grand Banks clean of their cod and mackerel, with my own eyes. It went on for a long, long time and our government was totally neutered trying to do anything about them. Turbot are the crappy ground fish that were left after the good ones were almost extinct. We saved our big bluster to protect a garbage fish that we feed to kitty cats.

Thanos Thanos:
And the last GOP president couldn't be bothered to waste Osama Bin Laden the way the motherfucker deserved but the pussy community organizer that succeeded him didn't hesitate to sign off on the kill order for the bastard. Not a single American president from Harry Truman through to Barack Obama ever approved the US military to take a shot at the Russians when they pull this kind of taunting crap. This "Repubs got bigger dicks than the Dumbocrats" bullshit is just childish cheerleading rah-rah nonsense.

Blame the last Democrat President who turned down numerous chances to capture or kill Bin Laden read "Losing Bin Laden".

When Bush came into office he had to rebuild the intelligence agencies and Military that were gutted. let's not forget Sandy Berger who was caught trying to steal classified documents (shoving them in his pants) that showed the failures of the Clinton Administration in going after Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.

When Obama took over all the assets Bush rebuilt were in place to continue the hunt. Also Bin Laden was always one step ahead of Intelligence Agencies and the Military just like he was with the USSR during the occupation of Afghanistan.

Before 9/11 the stupid media reported he was being tracked on his satellite phone so he stop using any form of technology to communicate and started using couriers and tracking the courier is how he was eventually caught.

Bush deserves as much credit as Obama for the killing Bin Laden.
