Seems to me, the smart thing to do would be to petition NATO to acknowledge our claim to sovernty on the Arctic and then if it does escalate to war we have 28 other countries backing us up including Germany Britian and the US, let the Ruskies ponder that, NATO creed states that if any member country is attacked then other member countries must assist, sure there would be foot dragging from smaller countries but the powers would step up.
As much as Russia wants to flex it's mussles, it's a far cry off from what it used to be. Nato should tell them to Fuck off, they already have the worlds largest stocks of natural reasources.
I also have very little doubt in my mind that if attacked, Canadians themselves would step up and our armed forces would increase incredably (I for one would join to defend our land), with weapons from the US and Brits (on load or lease)we could collectively stamp down on them!

I kinda doubt it,these threats have been going on for years now and so far nothing.
Were still living and mining there however.
Oil would have to be at about $200.00/barrell before it was feasible to drill there.

The site is a joke, does not take technology into account. Technology is the game changer. Superior technology is what allowed Nazi Germany to romp through Europe in 1939-1943 with such ease. Russian industrialization and imports of American made planes is what allowed them to survive and repel Germany.

Iraq had the 3rd largest army in the world pre Kuwait war (1991), yet its army was torn to shreds by America's superior firepower (technology), it wasn't even a war it was an international execution.

As it currently stands Canada does not have the technology invested to fight a war, 15th place in the world is very generous.

ps. The NATO military alliance requires all members to be at war with an aggressor nation if that nation attacks a member.
